[Tip] Enable Dark Mode or Dark Theme in WhatsApp in Your Mobile Phone

Finally the team behind the popular messenger app “WhatsApp” has released a new version of WhatsApp for Android and iOS which comes with much awaited Dark Mode or Night Mode feature.

The new Dark Mode or Dark Theme feature brings dark and black color UI to WhatsApp which will definitely please dark theme and UI lovers. Using an app in Dark Mode helps in reducing eye strains specially at night time.

First of all make sure you are using the latest version of WhatsApp. At the moment version 2.20.64 is the latest stable version of WhatsApp which comes with Dark Mode feature. So you must be using 2.20.64 or a later version of WhatsApp to be able to enjoy Dark Mode.

If you are using Android 10 operating system in your smartphone and have enabled Dark Mode globally using your phone Settings, WhatsApp will automatically activate Dark Mode in its UI.

If you are using an older version of Android OS or not using Dark Mode system wide, following steps will help you in turning on Dark Mode in WhatsApp:

1. Open WhatsApp on your mobile phone, tap on 3 vertical dots menu present at the top-right corner and select Settings option.

2. Now tap on “Chats” option.

3. Now look for “Theme” option.

PS: If you are using a new version of WhatsApp which comes Dark Mode feature built-in, you’ll see “Theme” option. If you are using an old version of WhatsApp which doesn’t contain Dark Mode feature, the “Theme” option will be missing.

4. Tap on “Theme” option and select Light or Dark options to apply default light theme or new dark theme respectively.
