Windows 11 Canary Insider Preview Build 26200 Released, Here is What’s New and Fixed

Today Microsoft has released a new Insider Preview build of Windows 11 to new Canary channel. The build number is 26200. This Insider Preview build can be downloaded and installed on “Canary release channel“. It comes with new features, bug fixes and improvements.

Recently Microsoft introduced a new Canary channel for Windows 11 Insider program which will allow users to test early builds of Windows 11. This new canary channel has been implemented for those insiders who want to test the features of next Windows version (might be Windows 12).

Now there will be 2 types of Windows 11 Insider Preview builds available for testing:

• Regular Windows 11 builds which will be available to all Insiders on Dev channel.
• Next Windows 11 or 12 version builds which will be available to Insiders who opted in to new Canary channel.

Please keep in mind that builds on new Canary channel will be less stable and might contain bugs and issues as the team starts checking in new code.

The Insider Preview builds of Windows 11 can be installed by registering to Windows Insiders program using Settings app. You can also direct register to join Windows Insider program using official Microsoft website.

What’s New in Latest Windows 11 Canary Build?

• The build watermark at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop has returned.
• Some improvements to the Widgets button on the taskbar so that the icons on the taskbar are clearer along with a larger set of animated icons.
• Developers can now send notifications to the taskbar button with their custom dashboards for the Widgets board. To manage notifications from multiple dashboards, Widgets is also providing more granular control over what content shows on the Widgets button on the taskbar. You can go to Widgets Settings > Notifications and enable or disable taskbar notifications from individual dashboards.
• Reverted the design for the energy saver icon in system tray back to the leaf icon.
• Bug fixes and general improvements

Known Issues in Latest Windows 11 Canary Build

Following are known issues in this build:

• Some Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels are stuck on Build 26040 or Build 23620. If you are impacted by this and really want to get onto the latest build in the Canary or Dev Channel, you can download the latest ISO and do a clean install and opt your device back into flighting in the Canary or Dev Channels.
• Copilot is auto-launching unexpectedly after restarting the PC.
• Voice access does not work reliably with the updated Copilot windowed mode.
• Using Windows Ink to write in Copilot will not work with the updated Copilot windowed mode.

How to Install or Upgrade to New Windows 11 Insider Preview Build?

The new build is available for download via Windows Update, so it’ll be automatically downloaded and installed in all computers running Windows 11 Insider Preview on Canary channel. If you want to manually download and install the new build ASAP, you can do this using following simple steps:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu.

2. Click on Windows Update option present in left-side pane.

3. Once you open Windows Update section, it’ll automatically start checking for new builds. Alternatively, you can click on “Check for updates” button.

4. Click on “Download now” button to start downloading the new update build of Windows 11. After downloading the build, your computer will automatically restart to install the new update. The download size will be around 2 or 3 GB depending upon the computer architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) and system language.
