[Tip] Enable Dark Mode in WhatsApp Web on Your Computer

Most of us use the popular social networking app WhatsApp in our smartphones. WhatsApp also allows users to use their mobile phone WhatsApp chat on their computers using WhatsApp Web.

You just need to open web.whatsapp.com website in any web browser in your computer and then scan the given QR code using WhatsApp in your mobile phone. It’ll immediately start mirroring your WhatsApp chat present in your smartphone to your PC.

You can send/receive messages in WhatsApp from your computer just like you do in your smartphone.

By default WhatsApp Web uses default light theme and there is no option provided to enable Dark theme or Dark mode in WhatsApp Web.

Recently WhatsApp added Dark Mode feature to its app for smartphones. Interested users can turn on Dark Mode in WhatsApp on their smartphones with the help of following tutorial:

Today in this tutorial, we’ll tell you how to enable Dark Mode in WhatsApp Web. Although WhatsApp has not released the dark mode for WhatsApp Web officially but it has been implemented and can be activated and enabled right now using a hidden secret trick.

Following screenshot shows WhatsApp Web running in Dark Mode in our computer:

If you also use WhatsApp Web and want to enable Dark Mode, following steps will help you:

1. Open WhatsApp Web using web.whatsapp.com URL in your web browser and link your mobile WhatsApp chat by scaniing the given QR code.

UPDATE: The Dark Mode is now officially available on WhatsApp Web. Click on 3-dots menu, go to Settings, click on Themes and select Dark option.

2. After linking WhatsApp account in your PC, right-click on empty area and select “Inspect” or “Inspect Element” option. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl+Shift+I or Ctrl+Shift+C keys together.

It’ll open Developer Console pane in right-sidebar in your web browser.

3. Now in “Elements” or “Inspector” tab in Console, look for following line of code:

4. Double-click on “web” term and it’ll allow you to edit the value. Replace “web” with “web dark” and press Enter key.

That’s it. It’ll immediately apply the hidden secret Dark theme mode in WhatsApp Web.

PS: The trick works temporarily for the current session only. If you re-open the WhatsApp website, you’ll need to follow the steps again.
