[Changelog] What’s New in Windows 10 October 2018 Update (Version 1809)

When Microsoft released April 2018 Update of Windows 10 to public, the company started releasing builds for the next version of Windows 10 codenamed as Redstone 5.

Now the new Windows 10 October 2018 Update has been released to public which is the 6th major update released for Windows 10 operating system. It is also referred as RedStone 5, Build 17763, Version 1809, Windows 10.6 and Windows 10 Service Pack 6 (SP6).

Windows 10 Build 10.0.17672 Changelog:

Build 17672 was the 12th Insider Preview build of Windows 10 released after RS4 build. It was released on May 16, 2018. This new build arrived via new “RS5” (RedStone5) development branch.

  • The Windows Security Center (WSC) service now requires antivirus products to run as a protected process to register. Products that have not yet implemented this will not appear in the Windows Security UI, and Windows Defender Antivirus will remain enabled side-by-side with these products. (How-to Disable Guide)
  • You can now refresh the Books pane in Microsoft Edge using a pull gesture.
  • When you pin books to Start from Microsoft Edge you will now see a live tile that cycles between the book cover and your current completion progress.
  • When printing PDFs from Microsoft Edge, you’ll find a new option to choose the scale of your print out (Actual size, or Fit to page).
  • Timeline feature has been updated so that in addition to seeing the number of available tabs to restore associated with a particular Sets activity, you can now cycle through them.
  • When you hover over the leaf icon in Task Manager’s Status column, you will now see a tooltip describing what it means (this app is suspending processes to help improve system performance).
  • In addition to showing Bluetooth battery level in Settings for supported devices, you will now see a notification when one of those devices is low on battery.
  • If you’ve enabled WSL, you’ll now see an option to “Open Linux Shell here” when you Shift+Right-click on the whitespace of a File Explorer folder. (How-to Remove Guide)

  1. With my old Hard Drive, I was running a different set of new models, 1703, 1709, and 1803. On Windows 10, Version 1803 we received new drivers. It will take me a while to adjust to this Hard Drive.
