[Windows 10 Fix] Notifications Not Showing While Playing Games or Full Screen Videos

Many Windows 10 users have complained about this annoying problem. When they are playing a game or watching videos/movies in full screen or working on an app in full screen, they do not receive any notification from Windows 10. All notifications are disabled and when they exit from the game or video, they find that some new notifications are present and showing inside the Action Center.

It means Windows 10 doesn’t display any notification when a user is playing a game or watching full screen videos or working on a full-screen app. All notifications are automatically disabled and moved inside the Action Center where the user can read them later.

If you want to turn off this behavior and want to force Windows 10 to always show notifications even if you are using an app, video or game in full screen, this tutorial will help you.

Fortunately, Windows 10 provides an option to disable this functionality and force Windows to always display new notifications on screen while the user is using an app or game in full screen.

This functionality is brought by Focus Assist feature which allows Windows 10 to show or hide notifications. By default this feature is enabled and notifications are not shown. Interested users can disable this behavior using following steps:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu or by pressing WIN+I keys together.

2. Now go to “System -> Focus assist” section.

PS: Alternatively, You can directly launch this page using “ms-settings:quiethours” command in RUN dialog box as mentioned here.

3. In right-side pane, look for Automatic Rules section.

You’ll notice that following options are enabled by default:

• When I’m playing a game
• When I’m using an app in full screen mode

You just need to disable these 2 options. Set the toggle button given next to these options to OFF.

That’s it. Now Windows 10 will always show notifications even if you are playing a game, watching full-screen videos or working on an app in full-screen mode.

BONUS TIP:

If you want the opposite and want to disable all notifications from displaying in your Windows 10 device, set the Focus Assist feature to “Alarms Only“. It’ll hide all notifications. You can check the notifications later using Action Center.
