[Changelog] What’s New in Windows 10 May 2019 Update (Version 1903)

After releasing Windows 10 October 2018 Update (Version 1809) to public, Microsoft started focusing on the next Windows 10 feature update which was codenamed as 19H1.

Recently Microsoft announced that 19H1 will be called Windows 10 May 2019 Update and it’ll be released to public in late May this year.

Now the new Windows 10 May 2019 Update has been released to public which is the 7th major update released for Windows 10 operating system. It is also referred as 19H1, Build 18362, Version 1903, Windows 10.7 and Windows 10 Service Pack 7 (SP7).

In this article, we’ll list all changes, improvements and new features found in May 2019 Update builds. It’ll help you in understanding what changes and new features have become a part of the new version of Windows 10 operating system.

  • Addition of acrylic blur effect to Windows sign-in (login) screen

  • Now you can configure advanced Ethernet IP settings using Settings app
  • New icon for disconnected Internet in Taskbar notification area
  • Addition of microphone icon in the system tray which appears when your microphone is in use
  • Pressing F4 in Registry Editor will now place the caret at the end of the address bar, expanding the autocomplete drop-down
  • The corresponding Ethernet adapter name will now be listed in the sidebar under the “Ethernet” header so you can easily differentiate Ethernet entries at a glace if there’s more than one
  • Ebrima font addition with ADLaM support

Windows 10 Build 10.0.18262 Changelog:

Build 18262 was the 9th Insider Preview build of Windows 10 released after RS5 build. It was released on October 17, 2018. This new build arrived via new “19H1” development branch.

  • Now users can enable a new column “DPI Awareness” in “Details” tab of Task Manager to know which running apps are DPI aware.
  • Some more preinstalled apps can now be uninstalled via the context menu on the Start Menu All Apps list. These apps are 3D Viewer (previously called Mixed Reality Viewer), Calculator, Calendar, Groove Music, Mail, Movies & TV, Paint 3D, Snip & Sketch, Sticky Notes and Voice Recorder.
  • New recommended troubleshooting setting under Settings -> Update & Security -> Troubleshoot page. This feature uses diagnostic data you send to deliver a tailored set of fixes matching problems Windows detects on your device and will automatically apply them to your PC. (More Info)
  • Improvements to Narrator
  • When adding a new language in Settings, Windows now offers separate options for installing the language pack and setting the language as the Windows display language. Windows also shows separate options for installing the Speech recognition and Text-to-speech features, when these features are available for the language.
  • Printers & Scanners page has been updated in Settings to now include a link straight to the troubleshooter in case you need it.

Build 18267 was the 10th Insider Preview build of Windows 10 released after RS5 build. It was released on October 24, 2018. This new build arrived via new “19H1” development branch.

  • If you right-click on a group name or tile folder in Start, you will now have an option to unpin it
  • Ctrl+Mouse Wheel Scroll to zoom in text is now supported in Command Prompt, PowerShell and WSL
  • When using dark theme (Settings -> Personalization -> Colors), the scrollbars in Command Prompt, PowerShell and WSL will now become dark too

Build 18277 was the 12th Insider Preview build of Windows 10 released after RS5 build. It was released on November 07, 2018. This new build arrived via new “19H1” development branch.

  • New Brightness slider in Action Center

Windows 10 Build 10.0.18290 Changelog:

Build 18290 was the 14th Insider Preview build of Windows 10 released after RS5 build. It was released on November 28, 2018. This new build arrived via new “19H1” development branch.

  • Fluent Design support for Power and Users menu in Start Menu
  • Now you can manually synchronize your clock with the time server using “Settings -> Time & Language -> Date & time” page
  • The new Microphone icon in Taskbar notification area now shows which apps are using your microphone

  • When your device has an update requiring reboot, you’ll see Windows Update icon with orange indicator in Taskbar notification area (system tray) alerting you to restart your device
  • Some updates to the taskbar to reduce the number of times you may see the icons redraw
  • Antivirus apps must run as a protected process to register with Windows and appear in the Windows Security app. If an AV app does not register, Windows Defender Antivirus will remain enabled

  • Streamlined Windows Hello PIN reset experience now available on all Windows 10 editions
  • Signing in to Windows with password-less Microsoft accounts now available on all Windows 10 editions

  • You can now download new Raw Image Extension (Beta) package from Store and view image thumbnails, previews and camera metadata of previously unsupported raw files right in File Explorer. You can also view your raw images at full resolution in apps such as Photos or any other Windows app that uses Windows Imaging Component framework to decode raw images.

  • Now you can create a file that starts with a dot. File Explorer will now allow you to rename a file to be something like “.gitignore” – previously there would be an error siting that you needed to provide a name

  • The error dialog of error reporting in Windows Sandbox now includes the error code and a link to the Feedback Hub
  • Windows Sandbox now captures hotkeys in full screen

    Many thanks for provide many useful tricks.
    I can make windows iso files(windows 7, 8.1 and 10 iso files) bootable with help of rufus, but now the problem is device manufacturer now providing advance option in boot menu, you can called advance boot option, I am using Acer Aspire E5-511 laptop, so I can configure my Acer boot menu to install Windows, but my request to provide small trick to manage boot for Windows installation on Dell, Acer, Lenovo, Asus and Hp also.

    And my another question
    “is it possible to make Windows 7 UEFI bootable?”
