[Tip] Disable Tab Hover Cards (Fast Tab Tooltips) in Opera Browser

Newer versions of Opera web browser (version 81 and later) come with a new feature called “Fast Tab Tooltip” (also known as Tab Hover Cards) which displays the current tab information in new card UI format when you hover the mouse cursor over a tab. This article will help you in disabling the new feature and restoring old classic tooltips in Opera browser.

Finally Opera browser has also started showing tab hover cards similar to other Chromium-based browsers such as Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

Now in Opera 81 or later versions, if you hover mouse cursor over a tab, it displays detailed tab information such as full webpage title, domain URL, etc in new card UI.

  1. Thank you so much. I couldn’t even figure out what this ‘feature’ was called to be able to google it. It’s incredibly irritating, as the dropdown of tabs covers various buttons in the browser (such as refresh) if you accidentally stray into the tap strip. Every new feature they add seems to be an annoyance more than anything.
