[Fix] USB Connector Connected / Disconnected Notification in Samsung Smartphones

Recently I encountered a very annoying and strange problem in my Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone. Suddenly the phone started displaying two silent notifications “USB connector connected” and “USB connector disconnected” continuously in the notification panel which was preventing the mobile phone from turning off the screen and the screen remained always on. If you are also facing similar notification issue in your Samsung or other smartphone, this article will help you in fixing the issue and removing the unwanted notification.

The “USB connector connected/disconnected” notifications were appearing very quickly on the notification bar. First the “USB connector connected” notification was appearing and within 1-2 seconds, the other “USB connector disconnected” notification was appearing on mobile phone screen. Both notifications were displaying from Android System.

Following animated image shows the 2 notifications appearing on the Samsung smartphone screen live in action:

Since both the notifications were appearing continuously, the phone screen remained on.

I tried many solutions to get rid of these irritating notifications and after a few minutes troubleshooting, finally I was able to find the culprit and resolve the issue.

The notification was appearing because I used a high power adapter or charger to charge my Samsung smartphone. I used the new S23 charger to charge my S9 phone and it caused the above mentioned notification issue in the phone.

It seems when we use a high-power or 3rd party charger to charge our Samsung smartphone, the phone detects an incompatible charger connected to the USB port and starts displaying the “USB connector connected/disconnected” notification. The most annoying part of the issue was even after removing the charger from the mobile phone, the phone kept displaying the “USB connector connected/disconnected” notifications on the notification bar.

To fix the issue, I attached the old original S9 charger to my mobile phone and it immediately fixed the issue.

So you can also try to attach other compatible chargers to your mobile phone if you also get similar notification issues in your smartphone.

If you don’t have other chargers, you can try to attach the smartphone to PC or laptop’s USB port which will start charging the smartphone and will remove the “USB connector connected/disconnected” notifications.

Restarting the phone may also work in getting rid of the notifications.

You can also try following solutions to fix the issue:

  • Clean the USB charging port on the phone.
  • Attach the charger and switch off the phone. When you get charging circle on phone screen, restart the phone.
  • Enable USB debugging option using Developer Options.
  • Select “Charging phone only” option for “Default USB configuration” in Developer Options.

  1. This help me immediately, thank you for helping me fix what could have degraded and already old phone.

  2. Thanks brother, I did a lot of experiments by watching videos on YouTube, but as you said, “Attach the charger and switch off the phone. When you get charging circle on phone screen, restart the phone.”, it worked fine.

  3. Thanks brother…restart after charging sign worked immediately for me. I was really fed up with this notification since last 4-5 days and it was not going away… Thanks so much!!

  4. I got the same issue on my tab A8,
I fixed that by connected usb otg and reboot tab ( without disconnected USB OTG)

  5. I’ve just had the same problem on my a23. Fixed it by attaching my phone to the laptop. Huge kudos to you

  6. For a month, I had this problem with my Samsung phone. Thanks a lot! You saved my soul and money. Now I used one old charger. This massage was disappeared.
    It’s okay now.
    Thanks

  7. Wow. Simply the right solution in my case. Thank you very much. But there was a small issue after that.
Step wise I did all until Restart. But unplugging the USB after the device was restarted re-created the same issue again. So I repeated the same procedure, restarted the tablet without unplugging the charger, made sure that the issue was not happening again, switched off the tablet , safely powered off the charger and then unplugged the usb connected to device.
There after I have not faced that issue YET.

  8. A53 here

It happens constantly when I attach the phone to the car charger and stop the engine before disconnecting the charger cable.

Usually, I postpone system notification for 2 hours, and it solves the issue.

Sometimes a restart is required, I found no other way to clean this annoying stuff. No developer mode, no old charger helped

  9. Thank you, the solution worked. I attached the charger, switched off the phone.
And when the charging circle appeared, I switched it on. And the annoying notification is gone.
    Thanks
