[Fix] Palm Swipe to Capture Screenshot Not Working in Samsung Smartphones

If you have a Samsung smartphone and you have checked its settings page, you might have noticed an interesting option “Palm swipe to capture” present under “Advanced Features” section.

We know that we can take screenshot on our mobile phones using a hidden secret key combination which has been mentioned in following tutorial:

But many people are not aware of these secrets, that’s why some mobile phone manufacturers directly add an extra option to take screenshots in quick settings (toggle) buttons, power menu, etc.

Similarly, Samsung also provides an extra feature to take screenshots easily and quickly. It’s actually a gesture. You can just swipe using your palm on screen and a screenshot will be saved to gallery.

But many Samsung mobile phone users have complained that this feature doesn’t work for you. Whenever they swipe palm on screen, nothing happens.

In this article, I’ll tell you how to use palm swipe to capture screenshot feature in Samsung smartphones.

STEP 1: Make Sure the Option is Enabled i.e. Turned ON

First of all double-check the feature has been enabled in your mobile phone.

1. Open Settings, tap on “Advanced features” section and look for “Palm swipe to capture” option.

2. Make sure it’s enabled i.e. its toggle button is set to ON.

Once the feature has been enabled, move to second step.

STEP 2: The Hand Edge Must be in Contact of Screen

This is the culprit which causes palm swipe feature not working. People assume that they just need to swipe the palm in the air over the screen. Some people think that they have to swipe the palm over the front selfie camera but they never touch the mobile screen.

The important thing is that your hand edge must be in contact of your mobile phone screen.

So to be able to use this feature, swipe your hand edge from right to left or left to right and your hand edge must be touching the screen.

That’s it. Now your smartphone will capture the screenshot without any issues and you’ll hear the camera click sound.

  1. I was under the impression that you were supposed to swipe over the front facing camera and I didn’t touch the whole screen with the side of my hand. Thanks for clarifying πŸ™‚ I now have a screenshot of this page so I don’t forget haha

  2. Still doesn’t work. I know these settings but I checked them again and it still did not work. It used to work before but now (even with the right settings) it is not working. P.S. I used it before so I know how to swipe.

  6. HI… re: Palm Swipe.

Thanks, but I wanted a duplicate of a photo in my gallery, and when swiping, it goes to the next picture.* Hmmm. So, I guess it has to be a STILL only for palm-swipe.

I’ll stick with the side-button method, but thanks for clarifying.

*I did figure out that if I ‘expand’ the photo a little larger, as long as you don’t lose edge-content, it won’t move to the next photo, though it MAY move slightly.

I am on my new phone, Samsung S10 (Not e and not Plus+) – and it is getting hard to find help that isn’t using the PLUS (& its features are very different, in many respects).

This is a smartphone like I have never had – and it’s taking me MEGAhours trying to find concise instructions on the plethora of features.

Do you answer questions for other areas? I have LOTS of questions. … and is this the only contact place? – or are you on YouTube?, or another platform?

Do I come back here for the answer?, or do you copy to my email? (How will I know?) 🀣

Again, thanks, and have a happy day! πŸ˜ƒ

  7. I’ve used it before my “screen bled” fixed the screen and I can’t take the screen shot by palm swipe, when I try it either scrolls to the next page or keeps zooming ( at some point I thought my screen was being very sensitive and needed to buy a protector first). Is there a way to fix this because I cant see myself using the power plus volume down button.
