[Fix] JioCall App Unable to Connect to JioFiber in Android Mobile Phone, Showing Not Configured

If you are trying to setup JioCall (previously known as Jio4GVoice or JioVoice) app in your Android smartphone and it is unable to find and connect to your JioFiber or JioFi connection (options are grayed out/disabled), this article will help you in understanding the issue.

Recently I took a new connection of JioFiber broadband. Since it comes with a free landline number, I decided to not connect any external handset with router. Instead I decided to setup JioCall app in my Android mobile phone to use JioFiber phone number to make/receive calls in my mobile phone.

I installed JioCall app from Play Store. When I opened the app, it asked for several permissions such as location, phone, etc. I granted all permissions.

When the first setup screen appeared, the JioCall app was unable to detect new JioFiber connection. The option to connect to Fixed JioFiber connection was grayed out i.e. disabled. Only first option “Mobile” was available to tap or click. Other 2 options “JioFi” and “Fixed” were not available to select as shown in following screenshot:

Of course, my mobile phone was already connected to JioFiber Wi-Fi network, still JioCall app failed to scan and connect to JioFiber connection. The app was also showing “Not Configured” error message in notification bar continuously.

I tried several things to troubleshoot the issue such as setting JioCall app as default Phone/dialer app, default Messaging app but it didn’t work. I also disabled battery power management options such as power saving, sleeping apps, adaptive battery, adaptive power saving mode, etc using phone Settings but it also didn’t fix the problem.

Even after restarting the mobile phone several times, the problem was intact. JioCall app was not detecting and connecting to JioFiber connection.

I also tried to install and use JioCall app in another mobile Samsung Galaxy S9 but the same problem persisted.

At last I came to the conclusion that JioCall app is not compatible with Google Android 10 and 11 versions. Since my Android smartphones (Samsung Galaxy S20+ and S9) were having Android 10 version, the app was not working.

I tried to install and use JioCall app in some old mobile phones (Samsung Galaxy S7 and Honor View 20) and it worked. JioCall app was successful in detecting and connecting to JioFiber connection. I didn’t face any issue in connecting to JioFiber connection in those old Android smartphones as they were having older Android versions.

So the bottom line is that JioCall app is not compatible with Android 10 and 11 versions. If you’ll try to use JioCall app in a new Android smartphone having Android 10 or 11 version, it’ll be unable to detect and connect to JioFiber connection. You can check your mobile phone Android version using Settings -> About Phone page.

You can use an old Android mobile phone having older version of Android and JioCall will work fine.

We’ll need to wait for some time until Jio releases update for JioCall app to make it compatible with Android 10 and later versions.
