5 Tips for Jio Fiber Broadband Users in India

Jio Fiber is a popular broadband connection service provided by Reliance Jio Infocomm in India. Many people are using Jio Fiber in their home, offices, etc. It provides high-speed Internet connectivity along with a Set Top Box which allows users to watch live TV channels as well as use OTT apps to watch their favorite movies and web series.

In this article, I’m going to share 5 useful tips for Jio Fiber users which will help them in customizing their Jio Fiber Wi-Fi network names, password, visibility, block/unblock devices, etc. I’ll also share a hidden secret URL to access the Administrator area to manage and control your Jio Fiber connection.

Following screenshot shows my smartphone connected to “Poor Signal” Wi-Fi network which is actually SSID (or access point) of my Jio Fiber connection:

I changed my Jio Fiber Wi-Fi network name to “Poor Signal”. You’ll also be able to do such things with the help of this tutorial.

If you are also using Jio Fiber connection, you’ll definitely find the following tips interesting and useful:

First of all download and install MyJio app from Play Store or Apple Store in your mobile phone. This app is an official app from Jio to manage and customize Jio Fiber and other Jio services using mobile phones. Most of the Jio Fiber users will already have MyJio app installed in their smartphones. When Jio technicians install Jio Fiber connection, they also install the app in user’s smartphone.

Now open MyJio app in your phone, tap on FIBER tab present at the top and then tap on “My Device” tab or icon given at the bottom of the app as shown in following screenshot:

It’ll open JioFiber Home Gateway page showing your Jio Fiber modem or router online and connected. If your Jio Fiber router is switched off, switch it on and wait for a few seconds until the app detects the router and connects to it.

Now tap on “WiFi Settings” link or icon as shown in following screenshot:

BONUS TIP: On the main Home Gateway page, you’ll see a list of all devices which have been paired to your Jio Fiber connection successfully. You can review the devices and if you don’t want a device to connect to your Jio Fiber connection, you can tap on “Block” button given next to the device name. It’ll permanently block the device and it’ll no longer be able to connect to your Jio Fiber connection until you unblock it using same steps.

Once you tap on WiFi Settings link, it’ll open a page showing all your Jio Fiber Wi-Fi Network SSIDs (Service Set IDentifiers). In simple words, you’ll see the Wi-Fi network names or IDs which your smartphone and other phones/devices display under available networks list when Wi-Fi feature is turned on.

Following screenshot shows WiFi Settings page of MyJio app displaying my Jio Fiber network SSIDs:

Now you can start using and enjoying following tips:

TIP 1: Change or Customize Your Wi-Fi Network ID or Name (SSID)

When Jio Fiber installer installs the connection in your place, he automatically changes the default SSID (Wi-Fi network name) based on your name or your house number.

If you want, you can change the name later according to your requirements. You can see in above screenshots, I have changed the SSIDs to Weak Signal and Poor Signal.

To change the Wi-Fi network name, tap on “Edit Name” option given under the SSID or network name which you want to change.

Type the new name and tap on Submit button.

That’s it. It’ll immediately change the SSID and all mobile phones and devices will start showing the new Wi-Fi network ID or name in available networks list.

TIP 2: Change Password of Your Jio Fiber Network Connection

In future or after the connection installation, you may want to change the password of your Jio Fiber connection. Sometimes if your Jio Fiber connection password has been shared among lots of people, you may decide to change it for security purposes.

Following steps will help you in modifying password of all your Wi-Fi network SSIDs which are shown in mobile phone:

To change the Wi-Fi network password, tap on “Change Password” option given under the SSID or network name which you want to change.

Type the new password and tap on Submit button.

That’s it. It’ll immediately change the SSID password and all connected users will need to enter the new password to remain connected to your Jio Fiber connection.

TIP 3: Show or Hide Your Jio Fiber Network Connection in Available Networks List

If you want, you can set your Jio Fiber connection SSID to hidden. Once hidden, your Jio Fiber connection will NOT be visible in any mobile phone or other devices. Since Jio Fiber connection comes with 2 SSIDs (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), you can hide one SSID which you don’t use and no device will detect and show it under available networks list. Similarly, if you connect your computer using LAN/Ethernet to Jio Fiber router, you may want to hide all Wi-Fi network SSIDs so that no one can connect to your Jio Fiber router.

To hide a network name or ID, tap on the network name and set SSID on/off and Visibility options to OFF.

It’ll immediately disable and hide those network names and no device will show them in Wi-Fi networks list.

In future, if you want to enable and show the networks again, set both above mentioned options to ON.

TIP 4: Change Maximum Connected Devices Limit

By default, maximum 22 devices (including mobile phones, computers) can connect to your Jio Fiber network simultaneously. If you want to reduce this limit and want to restrict other devices to connect to your Jio Fiber connection, you can do it with the help of following steps:

Tap on a network name and then tap on “Max associated devices” option. Now set desired limit and tap on Submit button.

It’ll immediately apply the new connected devices limit.

TIP 5: Manage Your Jio Fiber Router Using Hidden Secret Page on Your Computer

Apart from using MyJio app to manage and customize your Jio Fiber connection, you can also use your computer or laptop to manage your Jio Fiber connection as a pro.

Similar to all routers, Jio Fiber router also comes with a built-in Admin page or URL to control and manage the router.

WARNING!!! Use this secret admin page to manage and control your Jio Fiber router at your own risk. Don’t change or modify any parameter if you are not sure about it. Changing anything incorrectly can make your router bricked and you’ll need to contact Jio Fiber support to fix it.

To open Administrator page for your Jio Fiber router, open following URL in a web browser in your computer:

192.168.29.1

PS: Make sure you are connected to Jio Fiber connection in your computer otherwise the above mentioned URL will throw error.

Once opened above mentioned URL, you’ll be asked to enter Username and Password to login.

Following are the default username and password to login and connect to Jio Fiber router:

Username – admin

Password – Jiocentrum

Enter the credentials and you’ll enter to the Administrator or Root user area to control and manage your Jio Fiber router as an expert.
