Microsoft Edge Stable Version to Release on January 15, 2020

If you are following our website or other tech blogs regularly, you might be aware of new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge web browser launched by Microsoft. Last year, Microsoft announced that the default built-in Microsoft Edge browser which comes bundled with Windows 10 operating system, will be replaced by a new version of same browser based on popular Chromium project. Chromium project’s rendering engine “Blink” is used by many popular web browser such as Google Chrome, Opera and Vivaldi.

Microsoft Edge to Become Chromium-Based Browser Soon

The new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser was announced to be release for all supported Windows versions such as Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 as well as MacOS.

After the announcement, Microsoft started releasing testing preview builds of Chromium-based Microsoft Edge web browser to public. These preview builds include Beta, Developer and Canary builds which are regularly updated and released to public for testing purposes.

Today Microsoft released first Release Candidate (RC) build of Microsoft Edge browser to public which can be considered almost a stable version of Microsoft Edge browser. Release Candidate builds are those builds which are finalized and can be released as stable version to public if no more bugs or issues are found during testing phase.

Ever since Microsoft started releasing preview builds of Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser to public, everyone was asking when the final stable version of Microsoft Edge browser will be released to public? Since new Microsoft Edge browser is Chromium based, it’s faster and contains several features similar to Google Chrome browser and that’s why users are very excited to try the stable version of the browser.

Finally Microsoft has announced the release date of Microsoft Edge web browser and the date is January 15, 2020.

On January 15, 2020, Microsoft will release final stable version of Chromium-based Microsoft Edge web browser to public which will be available for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016 and later and MacOS.
