What’s New in Microsoft Edge 110.0?

Microsoft Edge 110.0 version was released on February 09, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • New Immersive Reader policies (ImmersiveReaderGrammarToolsEnabled and ImmersiveReaderPictureDictionaryEnabled) to control the availability of Grammar Tools and Picture Dictionary features in Immersive Reader.
  • Drop: Microsoft Edge now offers a simple way to send files and notes across all your signed in mobile and desktop devices. Using the desktop version of Microsoft Edge, Drop can be managed through the sidebar (edge://settings/sidebar). Administrators can control the availability of Drop using the EdgeEDropEnabled policy.
  • Important: The built-in sync feature will be enabled / turned on for Azure Active Directory users who have sync turned off. This sync enablement includes other devices where they’re signed in. Additionally, if a user’s other devices don’t have history and open tabs sync on, those two toggles will be turned on. Organizations using the SyncDisabled policy won’t be affected by this change.

  • Built-in JSON viewer tool which can be enabled or disabled using edge://flags/#edge-json-viewer preference.
  • Users can now edit and save web images directly in Microsoft Edge. Just right click on desired image and select “Edit Image” option from the context menu. Now you can crop and modify the image. Microsoft Edge 113.0 version was released on May 05, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Improvements to enhanced security mode
  • Switch from Microsoft Autoupdate to EdgeUpdater for macOS
  • New RestorePdfView policy to control PDF View Recovery setting
  • Updated MicrosoftRootStoreEnabled policy will now be supported in Microsoft Edge version 113 and 114. It will be removed in Microsoft Edge version 115.

Microsoft Edge 114.0 version was released on June 02, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Google Docs Offline Extension Automatic Installation: Google Docs Offline extension is provided by Google to allow users to work on Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive without internet access. This extension also provides advanced cut, copy, and paste functionalities across Google Editors. The Google Docs Offline extension will be pre-installed and will be disabled by default for Microsoft Edge users. When a user navigates to Google Docs, the extension will be auto-enabled.   • Microsoft Edge Workspace: provides a way for users to organize their browsing tasks into dedicated windows. It lets users share a set of browser tabs so working groups can view the same websites and latest working files in one place and stay on the same page. Each Edge Workspace contains its own set of tabs and favorites, all created and curated by the user and their collaborators. Edge Workspaces are automatically saved and kept up to date.   • Web Select is now a part of Web Capture. Users can access Web Select through Web Capture feature or press Ctrl+Shift+X shortcut directly for quick access. WebCaptureEnabled policy can be used to enable or disable both Web Select and Web Capture features.

Microsoft Edge 115.0 version was released on July 21, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

Admins can configure all Microsoft Edge browser policies for their organization in a configuration profile and set-up the browser to use these settings. New policies EdgeManagementEnabled, EdgeManagementEnrollmentToken and EdgeManagementExtensionsFeedbackEnabled can be used to enable/disable Edge management feature, control enrollment token and enable/disable the feedback feature, respectively.

Microsoft Edge 116.0 version was released on August 21, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Tab Organization and Automatic Tab Grouping: provides suggestions to organize and manage opened tabs. The main function of this new feature is automatic tab grouping which automatically creates groups of tabs from same website or domain. (How-to Disable Guide)
  • Microsoft Edge for Business: comes with enterprise grade security, productivity, manageability, and AI built in and enables organizations the ability to separate between work and personal browsing with automatic switching between the lightly managed personal browser window (MSA profile) and the work browser window (Microsoft Entra ID). All users signing in with their Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) will automatically receive Edge for Business and see an updated Edge icon with a briefcase to designate they’re in the work browser window.
  • Option to attach the Edge sidebar to the Windows desktop: Windows 10 users will be able to access their apps and sites directly from their desktop using Microsoft Edge sidebar. As an opt-in experience in Windows 10, users can attach the sidebar to their Windows desktop by clicking a “popout” icon near the base of the sidebar in the browser. This enables a side-by-side experience that works with any Windows app including Microsoft Edge itself. What’s New in Microsoft Edge 117.0?

Microsoft Edge 117.0 version was released on September 15, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Display of Microsoft Edge for Business Banner: Administrators can enable or disable the promotional banner of in-product Microsoft Edge for Business using the PromotionalTabsEnabled policy.
  • Microsoft Edge Sync Favorites Recovery: This new feature lets sync users restore any favorites or bookmarks that they lost or deleted within the last 14 days. Users can access this feature from either the favorites hub or using the edge://favorites page.
  • Autofill Autocomplete: This feature helps you fill form fields faster on websites. When you start typing in a form field, Microsoft Edge suggests possible in-line completions when there’s an exact match with your saved data in the browser. Autofill options can be found in Settings (edge://settings/personalinfo).
  • Deprecation of Web Select: This feature will no longer be an option under Web Capture or via keyboard shortcut.
  • Deprecation of Old Features: To simplify the More tools menu, following features are being deprecated: Math Solver, Picture Dictionary, Citations, Grammar Tools, and Kids Mode.

What’s New in Microsoft Edge 118.0?

Microsoft Edge 118.0 version was released on October 13, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Copilot Icon in Edge toolbar: The Bing Chat icon entry point in Microsoft Edge sidebar has been changed to the new Copilot icon. (How-to Remove Guide)
  • Removal of Microsoft Edge for Business Banner: The previous in-product Microsoft Edge for Business banner is being deprecated and will no longer be visible. Administrators can enable or disable the promotional banner using PromotionalTabsEnabled policy.
  • New Smart Find Update to Find on Page: When you search using Find on page feature, Microsoft Edge now shows suggestions of related matches and synonyms. The data is sent to Microsoft for processing. Administrators can control the availability using the RelatedMatchesCloudServiceEnabled policy. (How-to Disable Guide)
  • New SmartScreen Policy: The ExemptSmartScreenDownloadWarnings policy lets administrators create a dictionary of file type extensions with a corresponding list of domains that are exempted from SmartScreen AppRep warnings. Files with file type extensions specified for domains identified by this policy are still subject to file type extension-based security warnings and mixed-content download warnings.
  • New Microsoft Edge Update Policies: The MeteredUpdatesDefault and MeteredUpdates policies allow administrators to control the “Download Updates over metered connections” setting (edge://settings/help). The MeteredUpdatesDefault applies to all apps and MeteredUpdates applies to targeted apps. When a policy is configured to Allow, updates occur on a metered connection, such as cellular connections or others where data usage is controlled.

What’s New in Microsoft Edge 119.0?

Microsoft Edge 119.0 version was released on November 02, 2023. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Split Screen Restore Improvements: When the browser is restarted and previous browsing session is restored, the split tab will also be restored.
  • Additional capability to manage sidebar apps: Administrators can utilize the “sidebar_auto_open_blocked” ExtensionSettings policy field to control the auto-open behavior of sidebar apps.
  • Compression Dictionary Transport feature support
  • Behavioral changes to beforeunload event to trigger a confirmation dialog. Administrators can temporarily opt out of this functionality by disabling the BeforeunloadEventCancelByPreventDefaultEnabled policy.
  • Updates to Microsoft Edge Enterprise Sync Settings Page: When the ForceSyncTypes and SyncTypesListDisabled polices are used concurrently, the sync settings page (edge://settings/profiles/sync) accurately show the status for each data type.
