New Heart Pulse Icon Addition on Microsoft Edge Toolbar
Newer versions of Microsoft Edge web browser (114 and later) come with a new icon or button available on the toolbar. This new icon shows a Heart Pulse with green check mark logo on Edge toolbar.

When the user clicks or hovers on the Heart Pulse icon, it opens a new pop-up or flyout labelled as “Browser Essentials” in a sidebar at right-side pane as shown in following screenshot:
So the new Heart Pulse icon is actually a button to launch and access new Browser Essentials feature in Microsoft Edge web browser.
What is Browser Essentials Feature in Microsoft Edge?
Browser Essentials is a new feature introduced in Microsoft Edge 114 and later versions. This feature is an improved version of previous Performance Hub component. It helps Edge users in learning about important performance and security features available in the web browser and turning them on/off easily and quickly.
Users can enable/disable efficiency mode to save device battery and can check the safety or protection status of their web browser.
Browser Essentials feature also provides recommendations such as sleep unused tabs, etc using the built-in Performance Detector tool to improve performance and security of user’s device.

METHOD 1: Remove Heart Pulse (Browser Essentials) Icon from Microsoft Edge Toolbar
If you don’t like the new Heart Pulse icon on Microsoft Edge toolbar and want to get rid of it, following steps will help you:
Open Microsoft Edge and right-click on Heart Pulse icon or button in toolbar and select “Hide from toolbar” option from the context menu.
It’ll immediately hide or delete the Heart Pulse icon from Edge toolbar.
Alternatively, you can also remove the Heart Pulse button using Microsoft Edge Settings page as described in following steps:
1. Open Microsoft Edge browser and click on the 3-dots menu button present at the right-side of the toolbar. Now select Settings option from the main menu.
Alternatively, you can press ALT+F keys together to show Edge Menu and then press S key to open Settings page. You can also directly open Edge Settings page using edge://settings/ URL in address bar.
2. Now click on Appearance tab in left sidebar and in right-side pane, you’ll see Customize toolbar section.
To remove Heart Pulse button from Microsoft Edge toolbar, disable or set the Browser essentials button option to OFF.
It’ll immediately disable Heart Pulse button in Microsoft Edge toolbar.
PS: In future, if you want to restore Heart Pulse button on Microsoft Edge toolbar, enable the Browser essentials button option again.
Browser Essentials comes with a built-in feature which allows users to launch the sidebar by just hovering over its Heart Pulse icon on toolbar. Interested users can enable or disable this mouse hover feature using following steps:
1. Open Microsoft Edge web browser and type edge://flags/ in address bar and press Enter. It’ll open the advanced configuration page.
2. Now type essentials in the “Search flags” box.
It’ll directly go to following option:

If enabled, Browser essentials popup or pane will open when you hover over the toolbar button. – Mac, Windows, Linux

3. To activate and enable the hover functionality on Browser Essentials’ Heart Pulse icon in Edge, select Enabled from the drop-down box.
To deactivate and disable the hover functionality on Browser Essentials’ Heart Pulse icon in Edge, select Disabled from the drop-down box.
4. Microsoft Edge will ask you to restart the browser. Click on “Restart” button to restart Microsoft Edge.
After restarting Edge, the mouse hover functionality will be enabled or disabled based on the selected preference value as mentioned above.
