Microsoft Edge 92.0 version was released on July 22, 2021. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Users can easily get to Internet Explorer mode on Microsoft Edge. Users can reload a site in Internet Explorer mode on Microsoft Edge instead of relying on the standalone IE11 application while waiting for a site to be configured in the Enterprise Mode Site List. You can use the InternetExplorerIntegrationReloadInIEModeAllowed and InternetExplorerIntegrationLocalSiteListExpirationDays policies to configure this feature.
  • MHTML files will default to opening in Internet Explorer mode.
  • “Disable developer mode extensions” warning can be dismissed for 2 weeks.

  • Default for autoplay will be set to Limit.
  • Payment instruments are now synced across devices.
  • Improvements to font rendering.
  • Toolbar button features like Favorites and Collections will remember the user’s choice to pin them to the side of the window.
  • Users can now manage the ‘Allow single sign-on for work or school sites using this profile’ option via “AADWebSiteSSOUsingThisProfileEnabled” group policy.
  • Password health: Microsoft Edge will now tell you whether saved passwords are strong enough and also indicate whether they’ve been used across multiple sites, helping you stay safer online.   • You can now opt for a second verification using your device password for your saved passwords.

Microsoft Edge 93.0 version was released on September 02, 2021. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Tab Groups feature which provides the ability to categorize tabs into user-defined groups and helps you more effectively find, switch and manage tabs across multiple workstreams. (How-to Disable Guide)
  • You can now hide the title bar while using Vertical Tabs. (How-to Guide)
  • Video Picture in Picture (PiP) from hover toolbar.
  • Microsoft Edge now supports a limited number of Initial Preferences (formerly Master Preferences). IT admins can deploy these settings as default before the browser is run for the first time by their users.
  • IE mode on Microsoft Edge will support “no-merge” behavior.
  • New “ImplicitSignInEnabled” policy allows system administrators to disable implicit sign-in on Microsoft Edge browsers.
  • New policies (ClickOnceEnabled and DirectInvokeEnabled) to bypass ClickOnce and DirectInvoke prompts.
  • Removal of 3DES in TLS. Support for the TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA cipher suite will be removed.

Microsoft Edge 94.0 version was released on September 24, 2021. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Microsoft Edge moves to a 4-week stable channel and introduces an 8-week extended stable channel.
  • Improvements to default behavior of opening MHTML files.
  • Restrict private network requests to secure contexts. Two compatibility policies are available to support scenarios that need to preserve compatibility with non-secure pages: InsecurePrivateNetworkRequestAllowed and InsecurePrivateNetworkRequestAllowedForUrls.
  • Block mixed content downloads. Secure pages will only download files hosted on other secure pages, and downloads hosted on non-secure (non-HTTPS) pages will be blocked if initiated from a secure page.
  • Enable implicit sign-in for on-premises accounts. By enabling the OnlyOnPremisesImplicitSigninEnabled policy, only on-premises accounts will be enabled for implicit sign-in. Microsoft Edge won’t attempt to implicitly sign in to MSA or AAD accounts. Upgrade from on-premises accounts to AAD accounts will be stopped as well.
  • New accessibility settings page contains all accessibility-related settings together on a single page. You can find the new edge://settings/accessibility page under the main settings list.

Microsoft Edge 95.0 version was released on October 21, 2021. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • View in File Explorer support for SharePoint Online libraries in Microsoft Edge. For this experience to be visible and work for your users, you need to enable the Microsoft Edge policy Configure the View in File Explorer feature for SharePoint pages in Microsoft Edge and update your SharePoint Online tenant configuration.
  • Intranet zone file URL links will open in Windows File Explorer. You can enable this experience using the IntranetFileLinksEnabled policy.
  • Improvements to the downloads experience. Support for the download user experience is extended to progressive web applications PWAs and WebView.
  • Pick up where you left off on PDF documents. You will now be able to resume reading from where you last closed your PDF document.

  • Free form text boxes added to PDF documents.
  • Citation support added to Collections.
  • Update your passwords faster and with fewer clicks. The browser will now take you directly to the Change Password page for a given website.

Microsoft Edge 96.0 version was released on November 19, 2021. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • New AutoLaunch Protocols Component that contains lists of scheme-origin dictionaries to automatically allow or block to protect customers from dangerous schemes. To disable blocking vulnerable protocol handlers and allow known-safe pairings, you can use the toggle in edge://settings/content/applicationLinks or set the AutoLaunchProtocolsComponentEnabled policy to False.
  • Launch Progressive Web App (PWA) directly via protocol links.
  • The PDF viewing and markup experience is improved with the addition of freeform highlighters.
  • Control-flow Enforcement Technology (CET). You can enable or disable CET by manipulating Image File Execution Options (IFEO) using group policy.

Microsoft Edge 97.0 version was released on January 06, 2022. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Users will be prompted to let Microsoft Edge sign in to websites automatically with the work or school account that’s signed into the current profile. Users can turn this feature on and off in Settings -> Profile preferences.
  • Added support for Microsoft Endpoint Data Loss Prevention (DLP) on macOS.
  • Automatic HTTPS.
  • Use of the legacy WebSQL feature will be blocked from 3rd-party frames. The WebSQLInThirdPartyContextEnabled policy is available as an opt-out option until Microsoft Edge version 101.
  • New “Citations” feature gives students a better way to manage and generate citations as they research online.
  • Microsoft Edge will start supporting more fine-grained protection by combating memory corruption vulnerabilities and by protecting indirect calls. CFG is only supported with Windows 8 and later.

Microsoft Edge 98.0 version was released on February 03, 2022. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Enhance your security on the web: This is a browsing mode in Microsoft Edge where browser security takes priority, giving users an extra layer of protection when browsing the web.
  • Users can now personalize their multi-profile experience with the ability to create a customized list of sites for automatic profile switching in Microsoft Edge.
  • Starting with version 100, Microsoft Edge will send a three-digit version number in the User-Agent header, for example “Edg/100”. Starting with Microsoft Edge 97, site owners can test this upcoming user agent string by enabling the #force-major-version-to-100 experiment flag in edge://flags to ensure their User-Agent parsing logic is robust and works as expected.   • Legacy Session Description Protocol (SDP) dialect called Plan B deprecated. This SDP format is being replaced by the Unified Plan, which is a spec-compliant and cross-browser compatible SDP format.

What’s New in Microsoft Edge 99.0?

Microsoft Edge 99.0 version was released on March 03, 2022. It came with following new features, changes, fixes and improvements:

  • Custom primary password is a new security feature, where users will now be able to use a custom string of their choice as their primary password. After it’s enabled, users will enter this password to authenticate themselves and have their saved passwords auto filled into web forms.
  • Users can now personalize their multi-profile experience with the ability to create a customized list of sites for automatic profile switching in Microsoft Edge.
  • You’ll now be able to navigate through your PDF document using thumbnails that represent the pages. These thumbnails will appear in the pane on the left side of the PDF reader.
  • You can now use the PasswordManagerBlocklist policy to configure the list of domains (HTTP/HTTPS schemas and hostnames only) where Microsoft Edge should disable the password manager. This means that Save and Fill workflows will be disabled, which ensures that passwords for those websites can’t be saved or auto filled into web forms.

  1. I was loving the MINI MENU when I highlighted text, until today. Now the first menu item is “Search with Bing” instead of copy and an additional click is required to copy. Can this menu be edited?

  2. The ability to delete individual autofill items no longer exists. This is a privacy issue as well as giving making it difficult to use the autofill effectively. Is this a permanent MS mistake?
