[Tip] Show / Hide IDM (Internet Download Manager) Context Menu Option in Web Browsers

This article will help you in showing or hiding IDM (Internet Download Manager) options in context menu (right-click menu) in your web browser.

When you install the popular file download software Internet Download Manager (also known as IDM), it automatically integrates itself with all installed web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and the new Microsoft Edge web browser.

Once the integration happens successfully, you can download files in your web browser using IDM. Internet Download Manager also adds few options in context menu of all web browsers.

If you right-click on a web page opened in your web browser, you’ll find “IDM Integration Module” option in context menu which contains following sub-options:

  • Download with IDM
  • Download all links with IDM

These context menu options help you in downloading available files quickly and easily.

Sometimes these context menu options are not displayed in web browser even after integrating IDM successfully. This tutorial will help you in fixing this issue and adding and showing IDM context menu options in your web browser.

There might be few people who may want to remove or hide IDM context menu options from their web browsers. This tutorial will also help those people. We’ll tell you how to remove IDM context menu options from all web browsers.

IDM allows users to customize its context menu options using its Settings. You can show or hide or remove unwanted context menu options from your web browser.

If you also want to show or hide IDM context menu options from your web browser, following steps will help you:

1. Open Internet Download Manager and click on Downloads -> Options menu.

2. In General tab, click on “Edit…” button given next to “Customize IDM menu items in context menu of browsers” option.

3. It’ll open a new window to modify IDM context menu items.

If you want to show IDM context menu options in your web browser, enable all available checkbox in both tabs “Internet Explorer and IE based” and “Firefox and other Mozilla based” tabs.

If you want to hide IDM context menu options in your web browser, disable all available checkbox in both tabs “Internet Explorer and IE based” and “Firefox and other Mozilla based” tabs.

If you want to remove a few unwanted IDM context menu options in your web browser, deselect desired checkbox in both tabs “Internet Explorer and IE based” and “Firefox and other Mozilla based” tabs.

After modifying options, click on OK button to save changes.

That’s it. You might need to restart your web browser to apply changes.

  1. Is it possible to speed up file copy/paste process of built-in copy handling tool in Windows 10, so we can transfer files faster than default from one drive to another or hard disk to USB or MTP etc?

  2. Is it possible to remove IDM context menu items from Google Chrome? The method explained in this article will only work on Internet Explorer and Firefox based browsers. I have disabled all checkboxes under both tabs, but this has no effect on Google Chrome.
