[Tip] Enable / Disable Dark Mode or Theme in Microsoft Edge Browser
If you are using the new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge web browser in your computer system and want to enable or disable the built-in Dark Mode or Dark Theme UI, this tutorial will help you.
Now-a-days almost all software provide built-in Dark mode or Night mode functionality which changes the software UI to dark color or Black color which is good for our eyes while working on the software specially at night time. It helps in reducing eye strain.
The new Microsoft Edge browser also comes with Dark Mode feature. If you want to enable and apply Dark Mode in Microsoft Edge browser, following steps will help you.

Also if you are using Windows 10 operating system and you have enabled default app mode to “Dark” in Personalization settings, Microsoft Edge will also automatically activate built-in Dark Mode in its UI as it supports and respects Windows 10’s dark app mode. If you don’t want this forced Dark Mode in Microsoft Edge browser and want to use Microsoft Edge in default Light theme mode, this tutorial will help you.
Following steps will help you in turning on or off built-in Dark theme mode in new Microsoft Edge web browser easily:
1. Open Microsoft Edge browser and click on the 3-dots menu button present at the right-side of the toolbar. Now select Settings option from the main menu.
Alternatively, you can press ALT+F keys together to show Edge Menu and then press S key to open Settings page.
You can also directly open Edge Settings page using edge://settings/ URL in address bar.
2. Now go to Appearance tab or section and look for the Themes option.

By default it’s set to “System default” which means it respects Windows app mode. If Windows app mode is set to Light, then Microsoft Edge will also use its default Light theme in UI. If Windows app mode is set to Dark, then Microsoft Edge will activate built-in Dark Mode in its UI.
To apply and enable Dark Mode, set “Themes” option to “Dark” from the drop-down box.
To disable forced Dark Mode and restore default Light theme, set “Themes” option to “Light” from the drop-down box.
That’s it. It’ll immediately enable or disable Dark theme mode in Microsoft Edge browser.
