[Tip] How to Enable Built-in Dark Theme Mode in Mozilla Firefox

Newer versions of Mozilla Firefox web browser come with built-in support for Windows 10‘s Dark Theme Mode feature.

In this tutorial, we’ll tell you how to enable built-in dark theme mode in Mozilla Firefox manually and automatically.

Enable Mozilla Firefox Built-in Dark Theme Mode Manually:

Like many other 3rd party software, Mozilla Firefox also comes with a Dark theme Mode also known as Night theme Mode. The built-in dark theme provides a dark color scheme to Firefox. Many dark or black UI lovers like the Dark theme and use it as the default UI in Firefox.

You can apply the Dark theme using following steps:

1. Right-click on titlebar in Mozilla Firefox and select “Customize” option. You can also select the option using Firefox menu (hamburger menu).

2. It opens “Customize Firefox” window. At the bottom of the window, you get “Themes” drop-down box.

3. Click on the Themes menu and select “Dark” theme.

It’ll apply the Dark theme in Firefox.

The above mentioned steps are required to activate Dark theme UI in Firefox manually.

Enable Mozilla Firefox Built-in Dark Theme Mode Automatically:

At the moment there are very less 3rd party programs which support Windows 10 dark app mode but Mozilla Firefox has started supporting the dark mode. The newer versions of Mozilla Firefox come with built-in support for Windows 10 dark mode. It means if you use Mozilla Firefox in Windows 10 operating system and you enable “Dark” app mode in Windows 10, Firefox will automatically switch to its dark theme to respect Windows 10 dark mode settings. FYI Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system also comes with light and dark app modes. By default, the light app mode is enabled but dark UI lovers can switch to dark app mode to use all modern (UWP) apps in dark mode. Windows 10’s dark mode brings dark black color to the user interface and many people prefer it to use at night.

To enjoy the Windows 10’s dark mode support in Firefox, you’ll need to install or upgrade to the latest Firefox version. Once you install the latest Firefox version, apply dark mode in Windows 10 and Firefox will automatically apply dark theme to respect Windows 10 dark mode settings.

To enable dark mode in Windows 10, you need to follow a few simple steps as given below:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu or by pressing WIN+I keys together.

2. Now go to “Personalization -> Colors” section.

3. Now in right-side pane, scroll down to bottom and you’ll see “Choose your default app mode” section.

Select “Dark” option to apply dark mode in Windows 10.
