[Fix] Disable Forced Dark Theme Mode in Mozilla Firefox in Windows 10

Similar to other software programs, Mozilla Firefox web browser also comes with built-in Dark Mode to please Dark or Black UI lovers. Many users prefer to use software in dark modes or night modes as it reduces eye strain and helps them using the software for long time specially at night time.

Mozilla Firefox also supports Windows 10‘s built-in Dark App Mode which means if you enable dark app mode in Windows 10 to use all UWP (modern) apps, File Explorer, etc in Dark Mode, Firefox also automatically activates its Dark Mode to respect Windows 10’s dark app mode.

Many Windows 10 users may not like this behavior. They want to use Windows 10 apps and File Explorer in Dark Mode but they don’t want to use Mozilla Firefox in Dark Mode.

We’ll share a small tip which will allow you to keep Windows 10’s dark app mode enabled and at the same time using Mozilla Firefox in default Light Mode as shown in following screenshot:

Actually Firefox comes with a built-in Light theme which can be enabled and applied to use Firefox in light theme mode even if you have enabled the dark app mode in Windows 10 operating system.

Check out following steps to restore default Light theme in Mozilla Firefox while using Dark app mode in Windows 10:

1. Right-click on titlebar in Mozilla Firefox and select “Customize” option. You can also select the option using Firefox menu (hamburger menu).

2. It opens “Customize Firefox” window. At the bottom of the window, you get “Themes” drop-down box.

3. Click on the Themes menu and select “Light” theme.

That’s it. Click on Done button or press Esc key and you are ready to enjoy Firefox in light mode and Windows 10 apps in dark mode.

PS: In future, if you decide to use Firefox in Dark Mode, set the Firefox theme to Dark or Default.
