Windows 11 Dev Insider Preview Build 26100 Released, Here is What’s New and Fixed

UPDATE: Windows 11 Insider Preview build 26100 released to Dev channel.

Today Microsoft released a new Insider Preview build of Windows 11 to Dev channel. The build number is 26100. This Insider Preview build can be downloaded and installed on “Dev release channel“. It comes with new features, bug fixes and improvements.

PS: Microsoft has rebooted the Dev channel and now the Dev channel will receive Windows 11 builds from 23000 series. The new “Canary” channel will receive more early Windows 11/12 Insider Preview builds from 25000 series.

The new Windows 11 operating system comes with new redesigned and refreshing UI (user interface) and several new features. To test new features and functionality introduced in Windows 11, Microsoft has started releasing Insider Preview builds of Windows 11, so that users can install these testing builds of Windows 11 in their computers and provide feedback and suggestions to Microsoft to fix bugs and issues and to improve Windows 11 operating system.

The Insider Preview builds of Windows 11 can be installed by registering to Windows Insiders program using Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Insider Program page. If you are already using a Windows 10 Insider Preview build in your system, you are already registered to receive Windows 11 Insider Preview builds.

The latest Windows 11 Dev build comes with following new features, fixes and known issues:

What’s New in Latest Windows 11 Dev Insider Preview Build?

  • The build watermark at the lower right-hand corner of the desktop is not present in this build and will return in future Insider Preview builds.
  • Bug fixes and general improvements

Known Issues in Latest Windows 11 Dev Insider Preview Build:

  • Some Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels are stuck on Build 26040 or Build 23620. If you are impacted by this and really want to get onto the latest build in the Canary or Dev Channel, you can download the latest ISO and do a clean install and opt your device back into flighting in the Canary or Dev Channels.
  • Voice access does not work reliably with the updated Copilot windowed mode.
  • Using Windows Ink to write in Copilot will not work with the updated Copilot windowed mode.
  • When Copilot in Windows is docked and resized to a large width, Copilot does not always fill the width of the panel. Resizing Copilot to less than half of the width of your screen usually fixes this issue.

How to Install or Upgrade to New Windows 11 Insider Preview Build?

The new build is available for download via Windows Update, so it’ll be automatically downloaded and installed in all computers running Windows 11 Insider Preview on Dev channel. If you want to manually download and install the new build ASAP, you can do this using following simple steps:

1. Open Settings app from Start Menu.

2. Click on Windows Update option present in left-side pane.

3. Once you open Windows Update section, it’ll automatically start checking for new builds. Alternatively, you can click on “Check for updates” button.

4. Click on “Download now” button to start downloading the new update build of Windows 11. After downloading the build, your computer will automatically restart to install the new update. The download size will be around 2 or 3 GB depending upon the computer architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) and system language.
