[Tip] Enable Dark Mode in Notepad in Windows 11
Recently Microsoft released a new redesigned version of Notepad app for Windows 11 which automatically replaces the classic Notepad application which came bundled with Windows 11.
The new Notepad app is an advanced text editor which has been developed to replace old Notepad app which was present in all Windows versions. The old Notepad app was a simple and basic text editor without any advanced functionality. On the other hand new redesigned Notepad app comes with many advanced text editing functions.

Enable Dark Mode in Windows 11 Notepad Using App Settings
If you want to manually enable Dark mode in Windows 11 Notepad app, you can turn on dark mode in Notepad settings as mentioned below:
1. Open Notepad app and click on Settings (cog wheel) icon present at the right-side of Notepad menubar/toolbar.
2. It’ll open Notepad Settings page. Now click on “App Theme” section to expand it.
3. Now select Dark option and it’ll immediately activate dark mode in Notepad app.
In future, if you decide to restore default Light theme mode, select Light option present under App theme section.
Enable Dark Mode in Notepad Using Windows 11 Settings
You can also enable system-wide Dark mode in Windows 11 which will automatically enable Dark mode in Notepad and all other apps which support dark mode.
1. Open Settings app in Windows 11 using Start Menu or by pressing WIN+I keys together.
2. Now click on Personalization section in left-side pane.
3. In right-side pane, click on Colors section.
4. Now select “Dark” option from the drop-down box given next to “Choose your mode” option.
It’ll immediately activate and enable Dark mode everywhere in Windows 11 including File Explorer, etc. You’ll also get Dark mode in new Notepad app.
In future, if you want to restore default Light theme mode in Windows 11, select “Light” option under “Choose your mode” in Windows 11 Settings page.
