How to Get Sony TV Channels Back on Tata Play DTH in India?

If you are living in India, you might be aware of Tata Sky DTH (Direct-To-Home) television service provider company which is one of the most popular, largest and premium DTH companies in India. Tata Sky is well known due to its premium services, set top boxes, subscription plans and support. It provides maximum HD channels among all DTH companies present in India.

Everything was going perfect and smooth for Tata Sky until a shocking and unexpected event happened. At 12:00 AM midnight on October 1st, 2018, Tata Sky removed several Sony Pictures Networks (SPN) and India Today Network TV channels from its platform.

When Tata Sky subscribers switched on their TV sets on next day, they were surprised to see that many of their favorite TV channels were missing. Although they were subscribed to those TV channels but they were unable to find/watch those TV channels on their set top boxes.

People started complaining on Tata Sky helpline, online chat service, social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter. All were frustrated and angry with Tata Sky and were asking why their subscribed TV channels were removed suddenly without any prior notice?

Tata Sky is blaming SPN by saying that SPN was trying to increase prices. On the other hand, SPN is blaming Tata Sky by saying they have not increased rates of their channels.

In this article, we’ll tell you how to get back the missing Sony TV channels on Tata Sky DTH, so that you can watch your favorite programs again.

Let’s first list the removed TV channels. Following 25 TV channels (including 9 HD channels and 4 +1 services) have been removed completely from Tata Sky DTH:

To make the subscribers happy, Tata Sky has retained a few (13) SPN TV channels which are as following:

• SET (Sony TV)
• SET HD (Sony TV HD)
• Sony SAB
• Sony MAX
• Sony SIX
• Sony TEN 1
• Sony TEN 1 HD
• Sony TEN 2 HD
• Sony TEN 3
• Sony SIX HD
• Sony PIX HD
• Aaj Tak
• India Today

But these 13 TV channels have been unsubscribed from all subscribers packs. Even if a subscriber was subscribed to annual mega plan (platinum plan) which provides all available TV channels, these 13 TV channels were unsubscribed from his pack. Now if you switch to these remaining TV channels, a black screen is shown for a few seconds and then a slide is shown asking you to make a missed call on given mobile number to enable the channel.

To subscribe these TV channels, users need to give a missed call to provided mobile number and the channel will be activated for his set top box immediately. All 13 TV channels require missed calls to different mobile numbers which makes the subscribers more frustrated. It requires time in finding mobile numbers and then typing those numbers in your mobile phone to give missed call.

Some Tata Sky subscribers are complaining that they are unable to see any slide on these 13 TV channels. They are just getting a blank screen, nothing else. So they can’t find the number to give a missed call.

Just give a missed call on the above mentioned mobile numbers from your registered mobile number (RMN) and the channels will be activated in your pack.

PS: If you were subscribed to these TV channels, you’ll not be charged and the channels will be activated free of cost. But if you were not subscribed to a TV channel and you activate it by giving a missed call, you’ll be charged for that channel.

Apart from missed call method, you can also activate these unsubscribed TV channels by sending a message (SMS) to 56633 from your registered mobile number. Send ADD code to 56633. For example, to activate Sony SAB, send ADD SBRI to 56633.

You can also call their helpline (18602086633) or chat using their online chat service which can be found on mytatasky web portal and ask them to activate all missing TV channels for your account. They’ll activate these channels for you.

You can also request to add channels on their WhatsApp number (18002086633) and they’ll activate the TV channels for your account. Just send a message ADD code or Add channel_name. For example, ADD SBRI or ADD SAB to activate Sony SAB TV.
