[Fix] Airtel App Showing Full Screen Ads on Mobile Phone

I have received many emails from AskVG readers regarding this annoying issue. I also personally faced this issue on my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

Suddenly your Google Android mobile phone started showing full screen ads. The advertisement covers almost full display area, only the status bar/notification bar remains visible. The ad contains a Close (X) button at the top-right corner to close it.

The ads might appear on Home Screen or over other 3rd party apps such as WhatsApp, etc.

Following image shows these ads in action:

The ads are shown randomly even if you are on Home Screen. I also received 2-3 ads on my mobile phone recently.

After some investigation, I was able to find out the culprit. The ads are shown by Airtel apps such as My Airtel, Airtel TV, Wync Music, Airtel Books, etc.

If you have installed any of these Airtel apps on your Android mobile phone, there are high chances that you also get these annoying full screen pop-up ads.

If you want to disable or remove these full screen ads, this tutorial will help you.

We’ll share some methods to get rid of these ads permanently from your mobile phone:

METHOD 1: Use “Unsubscribe” or “Opt-Out” Feature

These full screen ads provide an option to unsubscribe or opt-out. Once you use this option, the ads will not appear again on your mobile phone screen.

1. When the ad appears, look at the bottom of the ad and you’ll notice “Unsubscribe” option. Tap on it.

2. Now tap on “Opt-out” checkbox and it’ll show you a confirmation message “Do your really want to Opt-Out?“, tap on “YES” button.

That’s it. Now the ads should no longer display on your mobile phone.

METHOD 2: Disable Advertisements Using App Notifications Settings

If the above method doesn’t stop ads, following method will completely disable those irritating full screen ads for sure:

1. Open Settings page and tap on “Apps” option.

2. Now tap on the installed Airtel app such as My Airtel, Airtel TV, etc.

If you have more than one Airtel app installed in your mobile phone, you’ll need to follow these steps for all apps one by one.

3. It’ll open App Information page. Now tap on “Notifications” option.

4. You’ll notice “mAdme” listed under categories. This is the notification which is showing those full screen ads randomly. Turn it off by setting the toggle to OFF.

That’s it. It’ll permanently disable those annoying full screen ads on your mobile phone and you’ll never see those ads again.

NOTE: If you want to know which app is showing these full screen ads, when the ad appears on screen, tap on “Recent” button present near “Home” button at the bottom and you’ll see the culprit app name at the top of the apps list.

  1. Thanks Bhai. Hope you are doing fine.
I used method-2 above. These ads are very irritating.
    Thanks, Grr

  2. Hello VG,

As usual, great guide to get rid of unwanted full page Airtel ADs. I have been getting random full page “my game” and can not locate the culprit APK that is posting them. Now waiting for it to re-appear to use the following:

    Full-screen ads

Some malicious apps display full-screen advertisements, even if you have another application open. Thankfully, it is incredibly easy to figure out where these come from. Whenever they appear, just press the Recents/multi-tasking button (it’s next to the home button), and the app it came from will be visible at the top of the screen.”

I will let you know if it works.

    Have a great day VG,
    Jean-Guy
