Advertisements on Lock Screen in Samsung Mobile Phone
Yesterday I was surprised to see a big advertisement banner displaying on Lock Screen in one of my Samsung Galaxy smartphones. The ad was displayed when I pressed Unlock/Power button on my mobile phone. It was a rectangle/square ad showing Airtel Cricket Bonanza (IND vs WI) promotion. As soon as the ad was shown, I quickly took a screenshot (How to take screenshots on your mobile phone).
Following screenshot shows the advertisement displaying on lock screen in Samsung mobile phone:

I was shocked to see an ad showing on lock screen. I never saw any ad showing on lock screen in any Samsung mobile phone. Yeah, Xiaomi phones are well known to display ads but it was first time when I saw an ad on lock screen in Samsung smartphone.
Now there might be various reasons and sources behind the advertisement displaying on lock screen:
- The ad was displayed by Samsung itself
- The ad was displayed by Airtel apps as the ad was showing sponsored offer or promotion of Airtel service
- The ad was displayed by some other installed apps
First of all I thought that some Airtel app might displayed the ad on lock screen. You might remember that Airtel apps already showed such kind of ads on mobile phones in past:

My mobile phone contained following Airtel apps:
- My Airtel or Airtel Thanks
- Wync Music
- Airtel TV or Airtel Xstream
I checked all 3 apps settings and notifications were already disabled for all those apps.
Then I checked settings of all other installed apps. I had very few apps installed and all were already blocked to show notifications.

So I’m unsure what thing caused the advertisement banner showing on lock screen? It was shocking and irritating to see an ad displaying on mobile phone lock screen.
Did anyone else got any advertisement on mobile phone lock screen?

Maybe you can install Adaway and scan for known adware apps.
actually, this has nothing to do with samsung brand or its software.
There must be something, any app or a android virus that caused this type of ad.
Kindly check and verify all apps. if the ad is promoting Airtel products again and again, then certainly, it is caused by one of your Airtel apps. if that’s the case, then just uninstall them.
If the ad is displaying random content there are 2 possibilities –
1. ad is caused by a recently installed or updated app.
2. ad is caused by a android virus (often embedded within a fake app)
In 1st case, just uninstall that app.
in 2nd case, check any unusual app or service and uninstall or stop it.
Also, Like in Windows, services play important roles in Android too. So just, find out the service which is causing these ads and just simply uninstall the app related to this service.

i saw similar ads on my boss’s phone – samsung A9. its there in samsung software.. its is under setting show lock screen notification.. fast charging and show ads … i honestly don t remember.. i am sure its under lock screen settings .. try and let me know cheers!!!
^^ I couldn’t find fast charging or show ads options. Notifications option was there.
yes its begun, Samsung asks for connect where the only option is to click done and they have access to your lock screen and galaxy app store.
