Here is How to Pair New Model of Tata Play Universal Remote

When you purchase a new Tata Sky HD connection or get a new Tata Sky remote, you’ll notice that the new Tata Sky remote is different from previous remotes. It doesn’t have any “UNIV” button which was used to control TV set in previous remote models. Old universal remote contained a “Univ” button which we needed to press to activate TV operations such as power on/off TV, adjust TV volume and changing TV source.

Following is the picture of new Tata Sky HD Universal Remote:

You can see in above image, new universal remote comes with a dedicated TV power button to directly power on/off TV. It also has a dedicated “AV” button to change TV source such as AV, HDMI, etc.

How to Program and Use Tata Sky DTH Universal Remotes with your TV Set?

If you got the new Tata Sky universal remote with dedicated TV power and AV buttons, this tutorial will help you in programming and pairing the new remote with your TV set.

It’s now very easy to program new Tata Sky remote. Following steps will help you in pairing new Tata Sky universal remote with any TV set:

1. First of all turn ON your TV i.e. power ON your TV. It should NOT be in standby mode.

2. Now press and hold TV Power and STB Power buttons present at the top of new Tata Sky remote.

The LED on remote will blink twice and will be kept on which means the universal remote is now in learning or programming mode.

3. Now aim your Tata Sky remote at your TV and you need to press and hold a number button on Tata Sky remote which contains first alphabet of your TV brand name.

For example, if your TV brand is Sony, Samsung, Sharp, Sansui, Panasonic or Philips, you need to press and hold 7 number button as it has pqrs alphabets written on it. If your TV brand is LG or Lloyd, you need to press and hold 5 number button as it has jkl alphabets written on it. If your TV brand is TCL, Toshiba, Videocon or VU, you need to press and hold 8 number button as it has tuv alphabets written on it. If your TV brand is Onida, Micromax, MI or OnePlus, you need to press and hold 6 number button as it has mno alphabets written on it.

Press and hold the number button on Tata Sky remote until your TV set switches OFF or turns OFF. It may take up to 90 seconds. As soon as the TV switches OFF, release the number button on Tata Sky remote.

That’s it. You have successfully programmed and paired your new Tata Sky HD universal remote with your TV set. Now you can control power, volume and source functionality of your TV set with new Tata Sky universal remote.

NOTE: By default, the new Tata Sky universal remote always controls volume of Set Top Box. You can program it to always control volume of your TV set with the help of following tutorial:

BONUS TIP: Configure and Pair New Remote with Tata Sky HD+ Transfer Box:

If you have old Tata Sky HD+ Transfer box (PVR) and you purchased the new model of universal remote, it’ll not work on Transfer box by default. You’ll need to pair it manually with Transfer box. It’s very easy. Just press and hold Back and 0 button for a few seconds and it’ll pair new remote with your Transfer box. Now you can use the new remote with your old Transfer box.

  1. I am able to switch on off my tv and av button for tv is also working but the remote is still controlling the stb volume instead of tv volume
