Connect to Wi-Fi Network in Your Smartphone without Password

If you want to connect to a Wi-Fi network or mobile hotspot in your smartphone without knowing the password or security key, this article will help you in easily connecting to the Wi-Fi network without any need of the password. We’ll need an already connected smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network as we’ll use the QR code scan method to connect to the Wi-Fi network without entering the password.

Many times we have access to a public Wi-Fi network such as in hotels, relative house, etc but we don’t know the Wi-Fi password and can’t use the network in our mobile phone. But if you have a friend or someone who is already connected to the Wi-Fi network, you can use his/her smartphone to connect to the same Wi-Fi network without any need of the password.

Almost all smartphones (Android as well as Apple iPhone) allow users to connect to a Wi-Fi network or hotspot using QR code. The QR code contains all information about the Wi-Fi network including the password and anyone can scan the QR code in his smartphone to connect to the network without entering the password.

You can consider the QR code as a ready-made and automatic connection to a Wi-Fi network. Just scan the QR code and your smartphone will be connected to the Wi-Fi network.

So if you have a person who is already connected to a Wi-Fi network and you also want to connect your smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network, you can use following steps to scan the QR code present in your friend’s smartphone using your smartphone to connect to the Wi-Fi network without knowing the password:

STEP 1: Open Wi-Fi Network QR Code Page in Other Person Smartphone

Ask your friend to open the Wi-Fi network’s QR code page using following steps:

1. Open Wi-Fi Settings page in smartphone using Settings app or using the notification bar or status bar. Just press and hold on the Wi-Fi icon in notification bar and it’ll open Wi-Fi settings page.

2. Now open the connected Wi-Fi network settings using the cog wheel icon given next to the Wi-Fi network name.

3. Now tap on the QR code option given on the Wi-Fi network settings page and you’ll have access to the required QR code.

PS: You can also send the QR code to your smartphone using the share option.

STEP 2: Scan QR Code in Your Smartphone to Connect to Wi-Fi Network

Now you just need to scan the QR code in your smartphone using following steps:

1. Open Wi-Fi Settings page in your smartphone using Settings app or using the notification bar or status bar. Just press and hold on the Wi-Fi icon and it’ll open Wi-Fi settings page.

2. Now look for QR code scan option. The option location might differ in different brands smartphones.

3. Tap on the QR code icon and scan the QR code opened in your friend’s smartphone and your smartphone will be immediately connected to the Wi-Fi network.

TIP: Many shops, hotels and public places allow people to use their Wi-Fi network for free and they provide a QR code to connect to their network. You can use the above mentioned STEP 2 to scan the QR code and connect to their Wi-Fi network.
