Microsoft Releases Update to Install Windows 10 Update Facilitation Service

Windows Update” is a built-in and essential part of Windows operating system which downloads and installs new updates, hotfixes and device drivers available from Microsoft servers. Windows Update runs as a background service to regularly check for new updates and whenever it finds new updates, it downloads and installs them to keep your computer system up-to-date and secure.

In older Windows versions, users were allowed to customize Windows Update settings. Users were able to turn on/off Windows Update completely. Users could also force Windows Update to notify them before downloading and installing new updates.

But with the release of Windows 10 operating system, Microsoft disabled/removed customization ability from Windows Update program. Now users can’t disable Windows Update and it automatically downloads and installs new updates without notifying users.

But we never advise anyone to disable Windows Update program as Microsoft regularly releases new updates to fix various issues related to security, system performance and reliability. Windows users must install these new updates to keep their computers safe and secure.

Today in this article, we are going to share a good news for people who want to make sure that Windows Update is working fine in their computer system. This news will also please people who are facing problems with Windows Update in Windows 10 computers.

Microsoft has released a new update KB4056254 which has been released to fix Windows Update related problems in Windows 10 operating system. According to official description given by Microsoft, this update includes files and resources to address issues affecting background update processes in the Windows Update servicing stack. Maintaining Window Update service health and performance helps ensure that quality updates are installed seamlessly on your device and help to improve the reliability and security of devices running Windows 10.

This update installs a background service called “Windows 10 Update Facilitation Service” to facilitate Windows Update service on devices running of Windows 10 versions 1507, 1511, 1607, and 1703.

The update will be offered to Home (Core) and Pro (Professional) editions only.

According to Microsoft, only certain builds of Windows 10 versions 1507, 1511, 1607, and 1703 require this update. Devices that are running those builds on Home or Pro editions that are not domain joined will automatically get the update downloaded and installed through Windows Update. Devices not connected to Windows Update may see a User Account Control (UAC) prompt during installation.

Important fix for Windows Update

Windows Update isn’t working and needs the Windows 10 update facilitation service to make sure operating system updates can install properly.

Select Yes on the next screen to allow it. A restart won’t be required.

So basically this new “Windows 10 Update Facilitation Service” has been introduced for older Windows 10 versions to make sure they get new updates most probably new feature updates.
