Windows 10 to Get Windows 11’s Copilot AI Feature Very Soon

If you are still using Windows 10 operating system in your computer and you don’t have any plan to upgrade to Windows 11, here is a very important news for you. Microsoft is going to bring its AI companion tool “Copilot” to Windows 10 operating system in coming days or months. Some people might be very excited about this news and might want to get Copilot AI in their Windows 10 devices but some people might not be interested in AI tool and might want to get rid of it.

In this article, we’ll discuss everything you need to know about the upcoming addition of Copilot AI feature to Windows 10. Following image shows how the new Copilot AI tool will look on Windows 10 Desktop:

What is Copilot AI Feature in Windows 10?

Copilot is a new centralized AI (Artificial Intelligence) assistant which was added to Windows 11 operating system to replace Cortana digital assistant. Copilot provides several AI-powered features and services to Windows users. Copilot tool comes with built-in AI capabilities as well as Bing Chat to assist users find answers and perform tasks easily.

Copilot AI feature has been made available to all Windows 11 users via recently released Windows 11 Moment 4 Update and Windows 11 2023 Update (23H2). Copilot appears as a sidebar on the right-side of the Desktop and can be accessed using a single mouse click on its icon pinned to the Taskbar. Windows 11 also allows users to quickly show/hide Copilot sidebar using WIN+C hotkey.

Now Microsoft is planning to add the same Copilot AI tool to Windows 10 operating system. Copilot icon or button will appear at the end of the Taskbar next to the Notification Center or Action Center icon. Users will be able to launch Copilot sidebar or panel by clicking on this icon.

Copilot sidebar will appear as pinned or docked to the right-side area of Windows 10 Desktop and will not overlap any other program window, so users will be able to use their favorite programs and Windows Copilot tool side-by-side.

Copilot AI Tool will be Available to Windows 10 22H2 Only

Microsoft is going to release Copilot AI feature to the latest version of Windows 10 operating system i.e. Windows 10 22H2 (or 2022 Update) only. Users who use older versions of Windows 10 such as 21H2, 21H1, 20H2, etc, will not receive Copilot AI feature as Microsoft has stopped releasing new updates for these outdated and unsupported Windows 10 versions.

Microsoft is Testing Copilot AI Feature in Windows 10 Insider Preview Builds

Microsoft has already started working on Copilot AI feature in Windows 10 testing builds. Recently Microsoft released a new Insider Preview build 19045.3754 (KB5032278) of Windows 10 which is going to receive Copilot feature very soon. Microsoft has added Windows 11’s “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle option to Windows 10 Update Settings page and users can get the upcoming Copilot AI feature faster by turning on the new toggle option.

Block Copilot AI Feature on Windows 10 in Advance Before It Arrives

If you don’t want to receive Copilot AI feature in your Windows 10 device and want to keep your device clean and uncluttered, you can block the Copilot feature in advance by applying a simple Registry tweak. The current registry tweak to prevent or restrict Windows 11 from using Copilot AI feature should also work in Windows 10 operating system. If Windows 10 gets a new registry tweak to enable or disable Copilot AI feature, we’ll update the article.
