[Tip] Set Blank Empty Page as Homepage in Your Web Browser

Recently an AskVG reader asked me how to make the Homepage in Google Chrome browser blank or empty. Today in this article, I’ll tell you how to set a blank or empty page as Homepage or Start page in all popular web browsers.

When you open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera or the new Microsoft Edge browser, the first page which the web browser shows, is called the Homepage or Start page. Generally the Homepage displays search box, website thumbnails, news articles taken from various websites, etc.

Many people don’t like these cluttered homepages and they want to set an absolute blank or empty page as start page in their web browser. Setting a blank page as Homepage also helps in making the web browser open faster as the web browser doesn’t need to load website thumbnails, news articles, etc.

  1. Hi VG,
In the latest version of MS Edge Chromium, how do I change the default Tab page from Microsoft to Google. Also when I right mouse click on the Edge taskbar icon and select “New Window”, the new window also displays Microsoft and not Google as required.
Thank you for such an informative web site.
    Ivan

  2. Yes I did VG. I have set Google as the default and if I remove the other suggested search engines they reappear when I re start the Browser. I think it is an issue with the current version of edge chromium. I have set google as my home page, however the customisation of the tab page does not allow you to set google as the default in this version. Right mouse clicking on the taskbar icon and selecting “New window” opens a new tab page displaying “Microsoft”, I would prefer it to open with my Google home page..

  3. In Edge Chrome, when I right click a link and select “open in a new tab”, how do I set Edge to automatically open that new tab?
