If you click on “Close all” button, it closes the window and all tabs. If you click on Cancel button, it doesn’t close the window.
The warning message box also contains a checkbox “Always close all tabs“. If you enable the checkbox while clicking on “Close all” button, Microsoft Edge will never show you the warning or confirmation message if you click on Close button with multiple tabs open.
If you accidentally or intentionally selected the “Always close all tabs” option and now you want to restore the “Warn on Close” feature in Microsoft Edge, this tutorial will help you.
Today in this article, we’ll tell you how to restore “Close all tabs” confirmation message in Edge browser in Windows 10 if you click on Close button.
Actually Microsoft Edge browser doesn’t come with any built-in setting or option to re-enable the “Do you want to close all tabs” prompt. We’ll need to modify Windows Registry to bring it back.

Following steps will help you in getting back the “Close all tabs” warning message in Microsoft Edge browser in Windows 10:
1. Press WIN+R keys together to launch RUN dialog box. Now type regedit and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.
2. Now go to following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\MicrosoftEdge\Main
PS: You can copy and paste the above mentioned path in Registry Editor’s address bar.
3. In right-side pane, look for AskToCloseAllTabs DWORD.
If its value is set to 1, it means the “Close all tabs” confirmation message is enabled.
If its value is set to 0, it means the “Close all tabs” confirmation message is disabled.
Since you want to restore the confirmation message, double-click on it and set its value to 1
That’s it. Close Registry Editor and now Microsoft Edge will start showing “Close all tabs” warning or confirmation message again.

It does not work
Doesn’t apply to new Microsoft Edge built on Chromium! Any other solution for the latest Edge Browser??
Hi – I agree with Amit, this doesn’t work for the new MS Edge / Chromium browser
Please read following:

I know about Google chrome not having that confirm on closing multiple tabs…but Opera on the same Chromium based browser has this close confirmation. So thought new Edge might also have it somewhere as hidden tweak…typical of MS. Anyways, I am happy with my regular browser Firefox.
