[Tip] How to Enable New Alpenglow Theme in Mozilla Firefox

Mozilla Firefox 81.0 and later versions come with a brand new theme or skin called “Alpenglow“. This new theme provides very colorful UI (User Interface) and has been officially developed by Mozilla team. It features a gradient of purple, pink, and black colors.

In this article, we’ll tell you how to find this theme in new versions of Firefox web browser and how to activate and enable it for daily use.

Following screenshot shows new Alpenglow theme applied in Firefox browser:

Recently we told you about this theme when it was under development and testing phase and was available only in testing (Nightly) builds of Firefox browser. At that time, you needed to download and install the theme separately and manually from Mozilla Add-ons store and then apply the theme. (More Info)

Now there is no need to download and add the theme manually. This new theme has become a part of Firefox browser and comes bundled or built-in with Firefox.

Alpenglow theme is also known as Radiance theme. The theme was previously released with Radiance name and was later renamed to Alpenglow when it was decided to include the theme in Firefox installation.

If you are using Firefox 81.0 or later version and want to enjoy or test drive new Alpenglow theme, following steps will help you in enabling the theme right now:

METHOD 1: Apply Alpenglow Theme Using Firefox Customize Page

Right-click on Firefox tab bar or titlebar and select Customize option. Alternatively, you can click on main Firefox Menu (3-lines hamburger menu) button present at the right-side corner of the toolbar and select Customize option.

It’ll open Toolbar customize page.

At the bottom of the page, you’ll see Themes drop-down box.

Click on Themes option and select Firefox Alpenglow theme from the list.

That’s it. It’ll immediately apply new Alpenglow theme in Firefox. Click on Done button or press ESC key to exit from Customize page.

Now you can enjoy the new theme in Firefox browser.

PS: In future, if you decide to restore default theme in Firefox, select Default theme from Themes drop-down box given at Firefox Customize page.

METHOD 2: Apply Alpenglow Theme Using Add-ons Manager

Click on main Firefox Menu (3-lines hamburger menu) button present at the right-side corner of the toolbar and select Add-ons option. It’ll open Add-ons Manager page. Alternatively, you can open Add-ons Manager using about:addons URL in address bar or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+A keys together.

Now click on Themes tab or section in left side-pane and in right-side pane, look for new Firefox Alpenglow theme.

Click on Alpenglow theme and click on Enable button.

It’ll immediately activate Alpenglow theme in Firefox browser.

PS: In future, if you want to restore default UI and interface in Firefox, click on Default theme and click on Enable button using Add-ons Manager page.
