[Tip] Install and Add Upcoming “Alpenglow” (Radiance) Theme in Mozilla Firefox Right Now

Yesterday Mozilla announced that the upcoming version of Firefox browser i.e. version 81.0 will come bundled with a brand new theme called “Alpenglow” (I found that the theme is codenamed as Firefox Radiance internally).

Alpenglow theme will come built-in and Firefox users will be able to apply and activate it using Add-ons Manager (about:addons) page or using Customize toolbar page.

In fact, when users will install or upgrade to Firefox 81.0 version, the onboarding screen (about:welcome) page will also offer the new theme to be activated by the users.

Alpenglow theme is a colorful theme developed officially by Mozilla team. It supports Windows 10 Dark and Light theme modes.

Following screenshot shows new Alpenglow theme live in action in Firefox browser:

In this article, we are going to share a good news. If you don’t want to wait for Firefox 81.0 release and want to add new Alpenglow theme right now in previous older versions of Firefox, it’s possible now.

Mozilla has also made the same theme available on official Mozilla Add-ons Store, so interested users can download and install Alpenglow theme in their browsers right now.

1. Open Firefox browser and go to following official page to download Alpenglow theme:

2. Once you open the above page, you’ll see new Alpenglow theme listed with the description “Gradient of purple, pink, and black. Designed by Firefox”.

Click on “Install Theme” button.

Firefox will show a notification asking for your permission to add the theme. (Firefox will show theme name as “Firefox Radiance”, ignore the theme name.)

Click on “Add” button.

Within a few seconds, the theme will be installed and activated in Firefox and you’ll get a notification that the theme has been added to Firefox.

Now you can enjoy Alpenglow theme in Firefox browser.

PS: In future, if you want to restore default theme, open about:addons page, select Default theme and click on Enable button. It’ll immediately restore default theme and UI in Firefox browser.
