[Tip] Enable New Redesigned Profile Manager UI in Google Chrome

In this tutorial, we’ll tell you how to activate and enable a brand new UI for built-in Profile Manager tool in Google Chrome web browser.

Google Chrome web browser allows users to create multiple user profiles or accounts to browse Internet. For example, you can create separate profiles for yourself, your family members, kids, office use, personal use, etc. All profiles have different settings, bookmarks, browsing data and customization.

You can create multiple profiles by clicking on the Profile photo or Avatar icon present at the end of Chrome toolbar.

When you click on the icon, you get various options such as browsing as Guest, adding new profiles, managing existing profiles, modifying password, payments, addresses, etc.

When you click on Add button, Chrome opens Profile picker wizard as shown in following screenshot:

You can enter desired profile name, select a photo and click on Add button.

Now here is an interesting news. Newer versions of Google Chrome browser (version 86 and later) come with a hidden secret preference/flag which can be modified to reveal a brand new redesigned UI (User Interface) for Chrome Profile Picker wizard.

Following screenshot shows the new redesigned UI of Chrome Profile Manager:

The new Profile Manager also allows to select theme for the new user profile.

If you also want to activate and enable the new Profile Manager UI in Google Chrome, following steps will help you:

1. Open Google Chrome web browser and type chrome://flags/ in addressbar and press Enter. It’ll open the advanced configuration page.

2. Now type picker in the “Search flags” box.

It’ll directly go to following option:

New profile picker
Enables new profile picker implementation. – Mac, Windows, Linux
#enable-new-profile-picker

3. To enable the new UI for Profile Manager, select Enabled from the drop-down box.

4. Google Chrome will ask you to restart the browser. Click on “Relaunch now” button to restart Google Chrome.

That’s it. You have successfully activated and enabled the new redesigned Profile Manager UI in Google Chrome.

Now try to click on user profile icon present in Chrome toolbar and you’ll get new Profile Manager UI.

PS: You can also enable “Signin profile creation flow” preference present on Chrome://flags page. It’ll enable and add signin/sync page to new UI of Profile Manager.

NOTE: If you decide to disable the new Profile Manager UI and restore classic UI in future, select “Default” option from the drop-down box for above mentioned option and restart the browser.
