[Tip] Enable Hidden Secret Math Solver Feature in Microsoft Edge

This tutorial will help you in activating and enabling a new and hidden secret “Math Solver” feature in Microsoft Edge web browser which will help you in solving mathematics problems by providing detailed step-by-step solutions.

New versions of Microsoft Edge web browser come with a secret “Math Solver” feature which has been developed for people who need to solve math problems. Students will find this feature very useful.

PS: Mozilla Firefox browser also comes with a similar built-in calculator feature.

This feature is disabled by default in Edge and interested users need to manually activate and enable it by modifying a hidden preference/flag.

Once activated, a new Math Solver button or icon is added to Edge toolbar. You can click on the button and a flyout will be shown to use Math Solver feature.

There are 2 buttons provided to start using Math Solver feature: Select math problem and Type math problem. If you have a math problem showing on a web page in Edge, you can click on “Select math problem” and then Edge will allow you to select the given math problem on the page. If you want to manually type the math problem, you can click on “Type math problem” button and Edge will provide a text box to type the problem.

The best thing about this Math Solver feature is that it provides step-by-step solution so that users can understand the procedure used by Edge.

Math Solver feature can solve many kind of math problems such as Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Matrix, etc.

If you also want to activate and try Math Solver feature in Microsoft Edge, following steps will help you:

1. Open Microsoft Edge web browser and type edge://flags/ in addressbar and press Enter. It’ll open the advanced configuration or experiments page.

2. Now type math in the “Search flags” box.

It’ll directly go to following option:

3. To activate and enable Math Solver feature, set the above mentioned option to Enabled using the drop-down box.

4. Microsoft Edge will ask you to restart the browser. Click on “Restart” button to restart Microsoft Edge.

That’s it. You have successfully activated Math Solver feature in Microsoft Edge web browser. But you’ll need to enable the feature using Settings page before start using it.

5. Click on the 3-dots menu button present at the right-side of the toolbar and select Settings option from the main menu. Alternatively, you can press ALT+F keys together to show Edge Menu and then press S key to open Settings page. You can also directly open Edge Settings page using edge://settings/ URL in address bar.

Now click on Appearance tab in left sidebar.

PS: You can skip the 5th step and directly open Appearance tab in Edge Settings page by right-clicking on Edge titlebar and selecting Customize toolbar option.

6. In right-side pane, you’ll see a new option “Show Math Solver button” added to Customize toolbar section.

Enable the option and Math Solver button will be added to Edge toolbar.

That’s it. Now you can start using new Math Solver feature in Microsoft Edge.

PS: In future, if you decide to disable or remove Math Solver feature, either disable “Show Math Solver button” option in Microsoft Edge Settings page or set the “Math Solver in Microsoft Edge” preference/flag to Disabled in edge://flags page.
