[Tip] Enable Hidden Secret Calculator in Mozilla Firefox Address bar
This article will help you in activating and enabling a hidden secret Calculator feature in the address bar of Mozilla Firefox web browser.
Newer versions of Firefox such as version 89 and later, come with a built-in Calculator feature in the address bar (also known as URL bar, awesome bar, etc). You can perform basic mathematics calculations with the help of this calculator feature.
Following screenshot shows use of built-in calculator feature in Firefox address bar:

You just need to type the query and Firefox will automatically display the result or solution in the suggestions drop-down box.
PS: Microsoft Edge browser also comes with a similar Math Solver feature.
By default, the calculator feature is disabled in Firefox and interested users need to manually activate and enable it by modifying a hidden preference/flag.
If you also want to test the new calculator feature in Firefox address bar, following steps will help you in turning it on:
1. Open Firefox Nightly and type about:config in the address bar and press Enter. It’ll show you a warning message, click on “Accept the Risk and Continue” button. It’ll open Firefox’s hidden secret advanced configuration page i.e. about:config page.
2. Now type calculator in Search filter box and you’ll see following preference in the window:

browser.urlbar.suggest.calculator
The preference value is set to false by default, which means the built-in calculator feature is disabled in Firefox address bar.
3. To enable calculator feature, double-click on the preference and set its value to true. Alternatively, you can click on the Toggle icon given next to the preference name.
That’s it. It’ll immediately turn on the new calculator feature in Firefox.
Now type a mathematics problem in Firefox address bar and you’ll see an instant result in URL bar suggestions drop-down list.
PS: In future, if you decide to restore default settings in Firefox, set above mentioned preference/flag to False again.

I am curious to know Firefox’s motto behind hiding such a quintessential feature!
