[Tip] Disable or Remove “Firefox View” Tab Icon from Toolbar

Mozilla Firefox 106 and later versions come with a brand new feature called “Firefox View“. This new feature displays a small Firefox icon or pinned tab at the top-left corner or the beginning of the tab bar or title bar of Firefox window.

When you click on the Firefox View icon, it opens its main page as an overlay tab over the current tab which contains list of recently closed tabs on the current device and tabs running in other devices using same Firefox account. It also allows users to select and use Colorways themes to customize the look-n-feel of Firefox.

Following screenshot shows Firefox View icon in titlebar and its main page running in Firefox web browser:

  1. Thank you. We already have a tab syncing option. Mozilla marketing team at it again, just making things confusing for users. Not sure if this is the same Sync feature re-branded or just an additional semi-redundant feature. Either way, this bloat is unwanted and unneeded.

  2. Thanks for this useful guide, this Firefox View thingy is simply too intrusive and annoying, it needs to be optional and the browser should be shipped with the feature disabled by default.

  3. As somebody here already said: Mozilla’s marketing at it again.
But the thing that still twists everybody’s noddle:
Will just removing the icon like this also disable the logging (and transmission) of those websites that you visited?
