[Tip] Disable or Remove Coronavirus (Covid-19) Caller Tune in Your Mobile Phone

Since March 2020, when Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic started spreading in India, telecom companies like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Jio, BSNL added a special Coronavirus caller tune to all customers mobile numbers.

Whenever someone makes a call, a long (almost 30 seconds) Coronavirus prevention caller tune is played to spread awareness about the pandemic. Initially a cough sound was also playing at the beginning of the caller tune but now the cough voice has been removed as it was very annoying.

Now-a-days some telecom companies have deactivated the Coronavirus caller tune on their customers mobile numbers but still many people are getting the irritating caller tune whenever they make a call.

Now people are demanding to disable and stop the caller tune as everyone is pretty much aware about the pandemic and precautions.

In this article, we’ll tell you how to bypass or completely remove Coronavirus caller tune on your or others mobile numbers.

If you also want to get rid of the annoying Coronavirus caller tune, following methods will help you:

1. Workaround to Temporarily Disable Caller Tune When You Make a Call

The workaround is very simple and easy to use. Whenever you call someone and you get Coronavirus caller tune, press 1 or # key and the caller tune will immediately stop playing.

If you are using a keypad or basic mobile phone, you can press the button immediately. If you are using a smartphone, you’ll need to tap on “Keypad” option to show the keypad on screen and then you can press 1 or # key.

If pressing the key doesn’t work for first time, press the key again and it should work.

2. Permanently Disable Coronavirus Caller Tune on Your Mobile Phone

Telecom companies have provided methods to completely turn off Coronavirus caller tune on mobile numbers. You just need to call a number or send an SMS and it’ll turn off Coronavirus caller tune on your mobile number.

Remember this method will deactivate the caller tune on your mobile number, so others will not listen Coronavirus caller tune when they call your number. But if you call a number which has Coronavirus caller tune activated, you’ll still listen the Coronavirus caller tune. You’ll need to ask the person to follow the procedure to deactivate the caller tune on his/her mobile number.

Following are the methods to permanently disable Coronavirus caller tune on different mobile network SIMs:

  • Jio users need to send STOP to 155223
  • Airtel users need to dial *646*224# and then press 1
  • Idea users need to send STOP to 155223
  • Vodafone users need to send CANCT to 144
  • BSNL users need to send UNSUB to 56700 or 56799

If the official method doesn’t work for your mobile network, try the other methods mentioned for other mobile networks.
