Obviously, since it’s a technical website, we’ll list things which you can do in your computers and mobile phones. We are sure you find these tips very useful ans it’ll help you in having a good time in this boring lockdown.

Let’s start the article:

A. Tips for Computer Users

1. Clean up Old Software and Files

What was the last time when you checked how many 3rd party software have you installed in your PC or how many files (including software installers, videos, songs, movies, etc) did you download from Internet?

We regularly download and install software from Internet which we find interesting and many times we forget to uninstall them and these software keep occupying hard disk space. Many software keep running in background consuming CPU resources and RAM.

It’s the best time to check all installed software and remove unnecessary and unwanted software to free up disk space and system resources.

Similarly check out your Downloads folder and delete unnecessary files which you downloaded months or years back.

2. Organize Videos, Photos and Other Files in Folders

Most of the people keep downloading stuff from Internet and everything is stored in default Downloads folder. You should create a new folder e.g. “Setup” and move downloaded software installers inside this folder.

You can also create sub-folders inside the main Setup folder to store different types of software in separate folders. For example, you can create “Internet” folder and put web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Vivaldi, etc) installers inside it. Similarly, create “System Tools” folder and put system related software such as tweaking utilities, file archiving software (such as 7-Zip) inside it. Create “Multimedia” folder and put media players software inside it. Create “Device Drivers” folder and put all your hardware drivers setup inside it. Create “Portable Apps” folder and put all portable applications inside it.

Similarly we copy (backup) all our photos, videos taken using our mobile phones in a single folder on our PC. You can organize all your photos and videos in separate folders. Create folders such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Tour, Visits, etc and move photos and videos inside those folders. Put years in folder names so that you can easily recognize and find desired photo and videos.

When you’ll organize pics and videos, it’ll refresh your memories and you’ll love to watch those photos and videos again.

3. Make Your Computer Super Fast

After installing lots of software, games, etc, our computers become very slow. You may face problems and issues while using software and games such as lagging issues, etc.

  1. Wow. Very useful collection of tips. I liked the idea of pics organization. Thanks.

  2. Hello VG. That’s exactly what I did in my lockdown time. As I mentioned in a previous comment about the “User OOBE Broker” showing up in Task Manager after a fresh install of Windows 10.

I’m from Trinidad in the West Indies and I’ve been following your website for many, many years since Windows XP. Those early days was dial up so you know how slow the Internet was.

I started using Opera web browser (My favourite web browser) from those early days because of the speed dial features and speed of opening web pages very quickly, but since the developer of the software went on to other things…Vivaldi web browser.
After version 12 of Opera, I jumped ship and started using Firefox. I had bookmarked your website from Opera to the present Firefox and have it as a speed dial for quick touch with the mouse.

Just for your info, I tell all my friends where I get nearly all my tech answers from.
