[TIP] Disable 3P SERP Telemetry Feature in Microsoft Edge 120 and Later

Microsoft Edge 120 and later versions come with improvements to 3P SERP telemetry feature which automatically captures the searches made by the user on third party search websites. If you want to disable or block this telemetry and data collection feature to improve privacy, this article will help you in completely turning off the 3P SERP telemetry feature in Microsoft Edge web browser.

When Microsoft released the new Edge 120.0 version to public, the official changelog page included a new policy to turn off the new 3P SERP Telemetry feature. When we checked the policy information, we found following information:

Edge3P Telemetry in Microsoft Edge captures the searches user does on third party search providers without identifying the person or the device and captures only if the user has consented to this collection of data. User can turn off the collection at any time in the browser settings.

The search telemetry feature is not a new feature in Microsoft Edge 120. It’s an old feature which stores the searches user does on 3rd party search engines such as Google, Bing, etc. According to Microsoft, the web browser should ask for confirmation and consent from the user before it starts collection search data.

STEP 3: Under Microsoft key, create a new key and set its name to Edge

PS: In future, if you decide to restore the feature in Edge, delete the above mentioned DWORD from Registry.

NOTE: Your Browser is Managed by Your Organization Message in Edge

After applying the above mentioned policy or registry tweak, you may notice “Your browser is managed by your organization” message showing on Edge Settings page and main 3-dots Menu in your Edge browser. Don’t worry! It happens when you implement a policy in the web browser. You can safely ignore the message.
