OEM Assigner: Add Device Information and Logo to Windows 11 System Settings

Today we are releasing a free portable app “OEM Assigner” for Windows which will help you in adding useful information about your PC to System Settings. The information contains device manufacturer name, your device model, phone number, website URL and a logo image of the manufacturer company. The app can be used in almost all Windows versions including Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10 and Windows 11.

What is OEM Information? Details for Interested Users

OEM information is a very old feature present in Windows operating system. OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer which means a company which makes parts and components that are used by other companies to make the final product. In computer world, generally OEM means your computer manufacturer company.

Since the good old days of Windows XP and Windows 98, Microsoft has allowed these companies to add their information such as name, website, logo, contact number, etc to System Properties. The same feature is still present in the latest Windows 11 operating system.

There is no UI option or setting provided to add OEM information to Windows System properties. We need to modify Windows Registry to add the information.

There are 2 different methods to add OEM information to Windows: Old method applicable to Windows 98/2000/Me/XP and new method applicable to Windows Vista and later Windows versions.

Long time back, we shared these methods with detailed instructions in following tutorials:

Add OEM Information and Logo in System Properties Dialog Box of Windows XP

Add OEM Information in System Properties of Windows Vista and Later

The above tutorial inspired our reader “S96” and he developed an excellent software “OEM Assigner” to add OEM information and logo to Windows automatically without any need of modifying Registry.

OEM Assigner can be used in Windows Vista and all later Windows versions. It’s a portable tool so you don’t need to install it in your system.

How to Use OEM Assigner to Add Information to Windows System Settings?

Run the OEM Assigner tool and you’ll get an interface to add following information to Windows System Settings:

  • Manufacturer
  • Model
  • Support Phone
  • Support URL

  • Logo

If your device already contains OEM information, the tool will show the existing information in text boxes. You can modify the information by deleting it and typing new information.

You can put any desired information in all text boxes such as your name, etc.

To add image or logo, click on Upload button and select the desired image file. Remember the logo must be a BMP file of 96×96 pixels. It’s a Windows requirement and can’t be changed. For your convenience, we have provided a ready-made OEMLogo.BMP file in the ZIP file. You can use it or modify it using any image editing software such as MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, Gimp, etc.

To add the information, click on Apply button and the tool will immediately add OEM information and logo. You can click on Preview button to check the changes.

Creating Registry Script to Add OEM Information to Other Devices

The tool also allows users to create a .REG file containing required Registry code about OEM information which can be used to add the same OEM information in other machines without using any software.

Once you apply changes, click on “Compile *.reg file” button and it’ll allow you to export the code to a .REG file.

Now you can run the REG file in any other device to add the OEM information quickly and easily.

Removing OEM Information and Logo from Windows System Settings

If you want to remove the OEM information from your device, the tool also provides option to do it.

Click on “Delete All” button and it’ll remove the OEM information from your device. If you only want to remove the logo, you can click on Clear button given below the Logo.

The Delete All button might come handy for people who purchased an assembled computer system from a computer shop and the technician added his shop information to Windows System Settings. You can easily remove the unwanted OEM information from your device using this free tool.

  1. Dear Sir,
Registry file not including logo picture. Only show Information. If I want to logo then always use .exe file for this.

  2. Hello Mr. Barui, the registry file does have the path. It might not have/load the path in the other computer since you need the exact path in that computer for the image also.

    Thank You,

  3. I am creating a windows installation .iso, and I would like to change this information. Can you help me?
    Thanks

  4. You need to use Resource Hacker for this. My software does not have this capability and is outside of OEM. You probably need to edit ShellBrd or BaseBrd from System32\Branding.

  5. Logo is not displayed in Windows 11 system properties. Nothing works in Windows 11 to get an oem logo to show. All these programs do is show oem information. I can do that myself by editing the registry manually.
