This new PC Manager tool can be considered as a free and Microsoft’s official alternative to other 3rd party system cleanup and tweaking software such as CCleaner, etc.
First of all, the setup size of PC Manager tool is very small just 5.7 MB and it comes with full offline installer so you don’t need an Internet connection to download and install any setup file from Microsoft servers. Just download the installer and run in your Windows device. It takes a few seconds in installing the tool.
Now let’s talk about PC manager tool’s features and UI!
PC Manager is a basic system cleanup and optimization tool. It provides many useful tools to perform PC cleanup such as storage management, deep cleanup, etc. It also contains shortcuts to many built-in Windows applications to provide easy and quick access to users.
When you launch PC Manager app, you get 2 tabs: Cleanup and Security. The title of Cleanup tab shows “Boost your PC’s performance” and the title of Security tab shows “Scan your PC for threats” to help users in easily understanding the functionality of both sections.

The Cleanup tab provides following options to choose:
- Health Check to find temporary files to clean, learn about potential issues and disable startup items to speedup system performance
- Storage management to perform deep cleanup, manage large files, uninstall unused apps and storage sense
- Process management to quickly kill/end task running services in background to make system run faster
- Startup apps to enable/disable startup programs to speed up boot process
The Security tab provides following options to choose:
- Windows Update to check and install new updates in user’s device
- Browser protection to set default web browser in user’s system and block default browser change by malicious apps
- Pop-up management to block unwanted pop-up windows appearing in apps
PC Manager tool contains very limited options to customize in its Settings page. You can only enable/disable its startup entry and turn on/off auto update PC Manager application.
PS: I noticed that PC Manager window remains always on top of other program windows and there is no option provided to disable this behavior. I hope in future versions, Microsoft will add option to turn on/off always on top setting in PC Manager.
At the moment, version 1.2.4.5 is the latest Beta version of PC Manager available for public.
You can download and install PC Manager in your Windows 10 or 11 device using following official download page present at Microsoft website:

Windows clutters up computers. If you have a computer for a long time it will have many Gb of useless files here, there and anywhere. Then MS release this. There is no information above whether it cleans WinSxS (or I missed in my skim read).
I tried the PC manager, but it does screw up windows defender.
Be careful, it’s from China. Might be one of many “pc manager” programs, AKA spyware/bloatware/malware in that place, just re-branded.
^^ It’s an official Microsoft app so you don’t need to worry.
Can’t recommend this. It slowed down my computer and made open programs stick, also web pages loaded so much slower. Uninstalled it and everything works fine again (Win 10)
Pro: Being an official MS app (according to VG’s article), the expectation is that it will do no harm.
Con: Its a store app. Store app are generally large and are more difficult to FULLY remove than regular programs.
