[Fix] Stickers Option Missing, Not Showing in WhatsApp

Today on the occasion of Diwali festival, I received a few messages from my friends and relatives in WhatsApp but some messages were not showing in my mobile phone. WhatsApp was displaying following error message for a few messages:

You received a message but your version of WhatsApp doesn’t support it. Update WhatsApp.

As suggested in the message, I immediately updated WhatsApp version in my mobile phone using Google Play Store. I again checked those messages and now the messages were displaying properly. The messages which were having problems previously, were actually Stickers. Stickers is a new feature in WhatsApp which allows users to send small images to each other in place of emojis or GIFs.

I also decided to send stickers to others but I was surprised to see that the Stickers option was missing in my WhatsApp. When I tapped on emoji/smiley icon in message box, it opened the emojis box which was having only 2 buttons: Emojis and GIF. The new Stickers button was not showing in my WhatsApp.

So basically the Stickers feature was not working in my WhatsApp although the stickers sent by others were showing in my WhatsApp. But I was unable to select or send Stickers to others.

I checked the WhatsApp version in my mobile phone and it was the latest version 2.18.327. (You can check WhatsApp version using 3-dots menu -> Settings -> Help -> App info).

I double-checked on Google Play Store and it was showing that latest version of WhatsApp was already installed in my mobile phone. I was wondering why Stickers feature was not available in my WhatsApp version? I thought may be I’m using Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone which uses Samsung’s own keyboard, that’s why Stickers option is not added to WhatsApp.

Finally I decided to check on WhatsApp official website and I was surprised to see that WhatsApp website was providing a newer version 2.18.339 compared to Google Play Store which was offering an older version 2.18.327.

I immediately downloaded the newer version of WhatsApp from their website and installed it in my mobile phone. Finally Stickers option started working in my WhatsApp. The Stickers button was added to the toolbar and I was able to send Stickers to other people.

So if you also face this problem in your mobile phone and you can’t see Stickers button, download and install latest version of WhatsApp from WhatsApp official website and it’ll enable Stickers feature in your WhatsApp.

For your convenience, I’m providing the direct download link of WhatsApp latest version for Google Android mobile phones:

When you’ll tap on the above mentioned link, it’ll open official WhatsApp download page. Tap on “Download Now” button to download the latest version of WhatsApp. Your web browser will ask for confirmation to download the APK file. Tap on OK button to accept it and once downloaded, tap on Open button.

The APK file will upgrade your existing WhatsApp version to the latest version. (More Info)

Now you’ll be able to use Stickers feature in WhatsApp in all Android mobile phones.

On Stickers screen, you can tap on (+) icon to download and add more stickers in your WhatsApp. WhatsApp also comes with a few stickers bundled. Extra Stickers can be downloaded from Google Play Store.

  1. The same thing happened to me this morning. I didn’t know what to do. I hadn’t replied. After reading I was able to send some stickers. Thanks.

  2. When you open emoji panel, wait for a few seconds or tap on gif button and stickets button will become available.

  3. Hi,
I am using vivo v5s. I am facing same problem. But when I am checking my whatsapp version it is already 2.18.341. I tried to install 2.18.339 from official website. But, it is not installing. I guess, it because I already had higher version.
    Please help to fix this.

  4. ^^ A new version of WhatsApp 2.18.341 has been released on Google Play Store which fixes the Stickers issue. If you can’t see Stickers button, you can try to reinstall WhatsApp in your mobile. You can take backup of your chats using WhatsApp settings.

  5. Even after updating to latest version(in my case 2.18.341) Stickers button was missing. Uninstalling and reinstalling fresh from Playstore fixed the issue. Ofcourse you can first back-up your chat and media before uninstalling.

  6. No I didn’t get this feature, I have checked by this version but it is not available.
    Please help to fix it
