[Fix] Large White Border Showing Around Firefox Window

Recently in one of my Windows 11 devices, when I upgraded Firefox browser, it started showing a thick White border around window as shown in following screenshot:

In maximized state, the border was showing around the full Firefox window but when I restored the window, I noticed that the thick border was showing at all 3 sides (left, right, bottom) except the top side as shown in following screenshot:
This weird White border was looking very bad and annoying. I restarted Firefox, still the border was displaying around the window. I also tried to restart the computer but the border didn’t disappear.
I checked other application programs and all programs were working fine. There was no border around their program windows. It was only Firefox which was showing that irritating thick border around the whole window.
After some troubleshooting, finally I was able to find the culprit and fix the issue. Actually some compatibility mode settings were automatically turned on by Windows for Firefox shortcut. When I disabled those compatibility options, the thick White border immediately disappeared.
If you also get large White color border around Firefox window, following steps will help you in removing the weird border:
1. Right-click on Mozilla Firefox’s shortcut which you use to launch the browser. The shortcut might be present on desktop, Start Menu or pinned to Taskbar. Now select Properties option from the context menu.

2. Now go to Compatibility tab present on Properties window.
3. Make sure all options given on Compatibility tab are unchecked i.e. disabled. If you find any option enabled, uncheck the option. In our device, “Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows 7” option was automatically turned on.
Click on Apply button and now try to open Firefox. Now you’ll not see any White border around Firefox window.
PS: You can also try to create a new shortcut to Firefox and use it to start Firefox.
