How to Show AM / PM Symbols in System Tray Clock in Windows 7 and Later
Windows 7 and later don’t show AM/PM symbols in system tray clock. Also Windows shows the time in 24 hour format i.e. 18:03.
If you want to get back the AM / PM symbols, then this tutorial will help you.

1. Type intl.cpl in RUN or start menu search box and press Enter. It’ll open Regional and Language Options window.
2. Now click on “Addition Settings” button.
3. Go to “Time” tab and you’ll see the value of “Long time” will be set to HH:mm:ss. Just add tt at last of the value, i.e. change the value to HH:mm:ss tt
4. If you want to show the time in 12 hour format (06:30 instead of 18:30), then change the value to hh:mm:ss tt
5. That’s it. Click on Apply button and you’ll get the AM / PM symbols back in system tray clock.

Awesome!!! Thanks a TON…. I always wanted this and was looking all around
Strangely, in my system the time settings shows in the format of tt HH:mm:ss instead of HH:mm:ss tt, which becomes quite annoying as the time gets displayed as PM 10:09:21.
It doesnt show the option of HH:mm:ss tt anywhere
Can you help me on this!

Hi if your system showing tt HH:mm:ss then just edit it and HH:mm:ss tt. You can edit it manually, no need to select those option.
Did Microsoft remove the option to choose the symbols in time and date? I don’t see the option anymore.
^^ Its present here in Windows 8.1 Update 1 as well.
Windows 7 doesn’t have that option anymore, I can’t find it.
It’s still there, don’t worry. I forgot how to change it lol.
thnxxx … its very helpful..
i apreciate it
Thanks a lot. it worked. am pm came.
hi.there s no display of AM/PM though i did the required things in lap having windows 8
I have one for you : How about where to change the Second Clock into AM/PM? My 1st Taskbar clock is AM/PM AKA 12H time but the second time zone clock I added is 24H time with no option that I can see to change it. Maybe there is a REGEDIT tweak?
^^ Check under the Registry key mentioned in following article:
