Here is How You can Create Your Digital Health ID Yourself in India

If you are living in India and want to create your Digital Health ID card online yourself, this article will help you.

Yesterday, Indian Prime Minister (PM Modi) launched new Digital Health ID system for all people living in India. This new Health ID will help all Indians in managing and storing their health records, test reports, medical prescriptions, etc digitally in their smartphones.

Anyone can create the new Health ID himself using new Indian government website portal. The Health ID will be unique for each person similar to the Aadhaar card. Health ID has been launched as a part of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) or National Digital Health Mission (NDHM). Don’t get confused between ABDM/NDHM and Ayushman Bharat Jan Arogya Card. Both are different things.

Health ID will be a 14-digit unique number assigned to a person which can be used to store health details in mobile phone. With the help of Health ID, a person can share his health records with a doctor easily without any need of carrying test reports, medical papers, etc.

If you are living in India, you can create Health ID yourself without spending money. No need to contact any agent to generate Health ID. It’s very easy and this article will help you in creating Health ID easily and quickly.

Once you create Health ID card, it’ll contain following information on it:

• Health ID Number
• PHR (Personal Health Records) Address (A username which will be required to sign-in)
• Date of Birth
• Gender
• Mobile Phone number
• Your photo
• QR code which can be scanned to obtain health details

Now click on “Create your Health ID” button given at the top-right corner to register yourself for Health ID card.

PS: I noticed that NDHM website is facing difficulties in loading. If you get “This page isn’t working”, “This site can’t be reached”, “Secure connection failed”, “Connect was reset”, “Too many redirects” or similar error messages while trying to visit NDHM website, try to open the website later.

After clicking on “Create your Health ID” button, you’ll be redirected to a webpage where you can create Health ID using your Aadhaar number or your mobile number. Linking your Aadhaar number with Health ID is not mandatory. You can just attach your mobile number with Health ID.

Click on “Generate via Aadhaar” button to create your Health ID using your Aadhaar number. If you don’t want to use Aadhaar number, click on “I don’t have Aadhaar / I don’t want to use my Aadhaar for creating Health ID” link.

Enter your Aadhaar number or mobile phone number and an OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to your mobile number for verification purpose.

Follow the simple steps given by the official NDHM website and your Health ID will be created without any problem.

BONUS TIP:

National Health Authority has also launched a dedicated app “NDHM Health Records” for smartphones to create and use Health ID. You can download the app from Play Store in your Google Android smartphone using following link:

In future, Health ID might be used for other purposes as well such as address verification, etc.

IMPORTANT:

In future, if you want, you can delete or deactivate your Health ID. There is an option available to temporarily deactivate or permanently delete/remove Health ID in user’s Health ID account page.
