If you also want to customize Microsoft Edge splash screen look-n-feel, check out following simple steps:

1. Press WIN+R keys together to launch RUN dialog box. Now type regedit in RUN box and press Enter. It’ll open Registry Editor.

2. Now go to following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\SystemAppData\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SplashScreen\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge

3. In right-side pane, look for following 2 strings:

  • BackgroundColor
  • Image

BackgroundColor” string contains hexadecimal code of the background color of splash screen. By default its value is set to #0078D7 which is hexadecimal code for strong blue color.

Image” string contains path of the background image shown in the splash screen. By default its value is set to @{Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_38.14393.0.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe?ms-resource://Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge/Files/Assets/MicrosoftEdgeSplashScreen.png} which is the path of Microsoft Edge logo shown in the splash screen.

4. To change background color of splash screen, double-click on “BackgroundColor” string and change its value to the hexadecimal code of your desired color. For example, we have set its value to #FFFFFF which is hexadecimal code of White color. You can get correct hexadecimal code of any desired color from Internet or any image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, MS Paint, etc.

5. To change background image of splash screen, double-click on “Image” string and set its value to the full path of your desired image. For example, if your desired image’s file name isĀ img0.jpg and it is stored in E:\Wallpapers\ folder, then set the value of Image string to E:\Wallpapers\img0.jpg

That’s it. You can experiment and play with the splash screen background image and color using these 2 strings present in Registry Editor.
