Download Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16251 Offline ISO Files

UPDATED on Aug 08, 2017: Windows 10 Insider Preview build 16251 offline ISO files now available for download.

We know that even after releasing the final RTM version of Windows 10 to public, Microsoft continues providing the free Insider Preview (previously known as Technical Preview) builds of Windows 10 for download to public which bring new features, fixes and improvements. Microsoft is doing this so that users can help in testing and further improving the new OS.

Download Windows 10 Free Insider (Technical) Preview Builds

These preview builds can be installed and used as primary operating system but you may face bugs and issues as these are testing builds. These new update builds are downloaded and installed using "Settings -> Update and recovery -> Windows Update" page as mentioned in following article:

New Update Build of Windows 10 Insider Preview Available for Download

But there is a big issue with this process. The update builds are huge in size because these builds are installed using the full setup ISO files of Windows 10 and users need to wait for many hours to complete the upgrade process. Also if a user wants to install these new Windows 10 updated builds in more than one computer, he'll need to download the new build separately in all computers. It causes waste of Internet connection bandwidth as well as users time.

Many Windows 10 testers were complaining about this issue since a long time and now Microsoft has listened to their requests. Microsoft has released offline ISO files of the recently released Windows 10 Insider Preview build 16251 to public. These ISO files are available in both 32-bit (x86) as well as 64-bit (x64) editions.

ISO files are available in following languages: English (United States), English (United Kingdom), Chinese (Simplified), Portuguese (Brazilian), German, French, French (Canada), Russian, Japanese, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Spanish (Latin America), Polish, Turkish, Swedish, Czech, Arabic, Korean, Chinese (Traditional), Finnish, Thai and Chinese Single Language (Simplified).

You can download the ISO files of Windows 10 Insider Preview build 16251 from following link:

After downloading the ISO file, you can burn it to a DVD using disc burning software or create a bootable USB drive to install Windows 10 in your computer. If asked, you can use following product keys at the time of installation:

Or you can enter a valid product key of genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 operating system. It'll work as mentioned in following article:

Now You can Activate Windows 10 Using Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 Product Key

If you are already using an activated Windows 10 build in your computer or if you recently upgraded from genuine and activated Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 OS to Windows 10 in your computer, you can skip entering the product key at the time of Windows 10 installation and after installation, Windows 10 will automatically activate itself.

  • oh thank god. I run Windows 10 TP on VirtualBox until the official final version gets released. During testing every time I screwed up on something I do a complete manual ISO reinstall. The ISO I've been using for recovery was WTP Build 9841, and every time I install through VBox I have to wait another several hours of updating to the latest build. It's tedious, time-consuming, and annoying. I've look on the official Microsoft website for direct latest build ISO but they all gave me the same thing: build 9841.

TL;DR I'm glad the news ISO are here. Getting really sick of relying on old unsupported Builds for recovery.

  • Microsoft fulfills the users' requests, thanks for giving the download links VG..

  • Thanks for the links! I needed them since my build (9860) refuses to update to this build, when my netbook updated without a problem. Now I just need to wait "5 hours" for it to download. Hopefully they fixed the update problem so next time a new build comes out I don't have to download a 3.8gb iso manually. I will update to W10 as soon as it comes out. I am loving it so far.

  • I downloaded 64 bit from the above given links. I tried to upgrade the os but it shows windows technical preview installation has failed

  • Dunno what u call big but largest ISO i downloaded was something more then 55GB.

Ontopic: Thanx for latest build ISO. Its much faster to d/l the latest build and install then do a installl with the old build ISO and update... updating to latest build takes 4-ever haha.

  • can i dual boot this with windows 7?
can i install it from within windows 7, but will install onto a clean drive?
thanks for the help. and thanks for the direct links VG. cheers!

  • VG

^^ Yes. At the installation time, select clean install option and select a different partition.

  • ok sounds simple enough. thanks VG i will try it

  • VG, the January Technical Preview is released today.

  • I hope this ISO has the English (Australia) option during installation.

  • I am using windows technical preview build '9841' . I am unable to download and install from windows recovery options. Can I download the iso and upgrade to the latest 9926 build without a clean install?

  • VG

^^ Yes or you can perform clean installation using this new ISO.

  • I noticed there are some people who are concerned about whether or not if you can disable Cortana. One of my Facebook friends has spent numerous hours trying to find a way to do so but Cortana continues to function. Other people have somewhat successfully disabled Cortana at the cost of the OS compromised. Is there a way to disable Cortana? Thanks.

  • VG

^^ I have not tried it. If I get some time to play around with it, I'll definitely try some ways to turn it off.

  • @Kyle ,
We can disable CORTANA by right clicking on the task bar, and in the search option: Disable.

  • the windows update in windows 10 tech preview build 9926 doesn't working. and i need help cause i cant update intel graphics to control the back light. it consume more battery life. thanks

  • After spending 12+ hours downloading the ISO file, I discovered that it CANNOT be used to UPDATE a Windows 10 TP build 9879 installation! When "upgrade" (vs. clean install) is selected, Microsoft's latest buggy release reports "Remove installation media, restart windows normally, insert installation media, and restart the upgrade" but (surprise, surprise, surprise) there is no way of "restarting the upgrade" without booting off the update media, and getting the same message. So, we can't do anything but a clean install with the ISO, and have to spend another 12+ hours downloading the update using Windows Update "Preview Builds".
Microsoft should be embarrassed to release such buggy #### on the public, but this is what happens when the public is so anxious to have the "latest and greatest state of the artless", and the media is so willing to extol the non-existent virtues of dancing monkeys over features that actually work.

  • Tried to download and it got terminated at 2.8GB. Such a frustrating moment. Going to give it a try once again with Internet Download Manager.

  • I install windows 10 multiple harddrive on may computer but windows 10 whipe out make a Brick

  • Try install. after install dont online. if you online windows as soon as will go microsoft web for free activation. its free! but will expired on 15/05/2015. (alerts digital signature winload.exe not verified)
another alternative.. after install try activation with your app activation first. (googling please)
then install deepfreeze/timefreeze. be on luck! your windows active 4ever. (try forward yuor pc time to 2016. windows run normaly)

Dont be ridiculous. Previews, betas and alpha releases are intended for developers and testers for testing out the new platform. They are not intended for daily use. Its the case with ALL developers, not just MS. Do not use a preview build of any software if what you want is a stable, solid product for daily use - you will be sorely disappointed.

  • @ cdg - its supposed to be buggy. you will not get a stable one until the official release drrr

  • Hello!

Windows 10 is not runing on Oracle Virtual Box on MacOSX.
I will not get Windows 10.

    With king regards!

  • Cool, works fine. builds 9926 not work wirelles, this works in my dell ispiron thanks!

  • Win 10 is not running on Oracle VirtualBox on my Win 7 machine.

  • Downloading the ISO takes at least 10 hours, assuming the download doesn't have to be repeated multiple times. Then updating the W10 installation from the ISO takes another 3.5 hours (~3 "getting updates" and ~0.5 "installing Windoze"). Then another hour or so to undo all the changes to settings the new build makes. All this for an "operating system" that does no more than Windoze XP.

  • @TechniZen "Dont be ridiculous. Previews, betas and alpha releases are intended for developers and testers for testing out the new platform. They are not intended for daily use. YOU don't be ridiculous. Preview, betas and alphas releases are supposed to have been tested thoroughly by the developers. THEN customers find the few bugs that escaped the developers. As stated above, Microsoft should be embarrassed to release such ####.

No, it is NOT "supposed to be buggy" and we will NOT "get a stable one [with] the official release" because Microsoft is obviously incapable of producing stable software.

"how much buggy is it comparing to 9926"

Few of the bugs reported in earlier releases have been addressed, and myriads of new ones have been introduced.

  • VG is there any solution for this ?

=how to check from which link a certain program downloading update file ?
e.g. Like In VLC when we click on update it downloads the update in temp folder & after complete downloading it install it.
Is there any way we can know the complete link of file so we can download it using Download manger for fast & good result ?
How we can log where a certain program is connecting & which link it is using ?
It there any way for it ?

  • VG

^^ You can use some advanced programs such as Process Monitor, etc to find such kind of things.

  • @Goldi :

You can try to find the links using Fiddler2. It should work. Or if you're a more advance user, you might use wireshark.

  • I downloaded Iso file, size is 3.73g like it should be. I burned it to a RW DVD disc. But when I put it in to boot nothing happens? Just goes right to my regular Vista desktop. I went in Boot menu and put Cd drive first, and still nothing. I meet the system requirements. What am I doing wrong? I have used these same DVDS for Vista iso files and they burned and booted just fine. So why wont this boot?

  • I have installed on my laptop with windows 7. The disk is in GPT. How to remove windows 10 now?

  • 10130 is an ancient version they are upto 10156

  • i there any way to Stop Windows Automatic Update

  • VG sir iam now using Windows 10 build 10125. I saw that start menu was not opening some times. how i fix this issue

    Thanks in advance

  • VG

^^ You should first upgrade to the latest build. Since these are testing builds, you might face bugs and issues. Microsoft is fixing reported issues in new builds, so you should always use the latest available build.

  • Installed an update install with ISO download of Jun23. When it completed and tried to reboot it goes to Automatic Repair which just keeps saying press any key to boot from CD. No repair and destroyed system. Thank god for Acronis backup.
I was installing on W8.1 system with all available updates.

  • Well , it has now been around 3 hours that install via Windows update and still not done and no error message. It is doing something but I have no idea what. I can bring up Task Manager and it says no app running. Will wait a bit longer before realizing that if it is this bad the July 31 date is not gonna happen for me damn, gladI have several Acronis Backups go get my system back quickly. What a joke this has been so far.
I have 60mbps internet so download not the problem.

  • Can I perform clean install of Windows 8.1 Pro With/Without Media Centre Pack with upgrade license key (upgraded Windows 7 Home Premium)?

  • i click the link but its still in 10130 build how do i download 10162?

  • hello , imposible to activate Windows 10 build 10169 with the key provided by Microsoft

  • I just downloaded build 10162 (expecting to find 10130) - before that Windows Update was sitting at 0 progress for 10162.

Actually the techs didn't download the same build for each PC - the compressed download can be saved, expanded into a Windows install image - ISO. Imagine a 2.5 GB (64-bit) download x 5,000 for one company, at a snails pace.

  • It there any way to activate it offline?????

  • The download link does not work!! It takes me to the insider homepage and i can't download the ISO from there.

  • The link to Download Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10162 Offline ISO Files does not work. It redirects me to "". PLEASE provide a new link that works.

  • VG

^^ Microsoft has announced that the offline ISO files of Windows 10 Insider Preview builds will no longer be available for download.

  • thanks for the information.but a problem has occured.i successfully download windows 10 iso in drive d but could not find the iso file.don't where it has gone would you tell me how to find it please

  • just want to know that, above product keys worked on multiple machines. like can i be able to use above product keys with windows 10 32-bit setup downloaded from microsoft insider webpage on multiple machines.

    thanks in advance.

  • Tip - you can just mount the Windows 10 ISO and run setup.exe instead, My USBs are never empty so this is convenient. Should also work to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10.

  • Hey VG, can you help me with my problem? I recently installed Windows 10 on my old hardware, and I am facing an issue with wifi. I can't connect to my wifi unless I restart my PC. It takes time everytime I use it. Please help. Thanks.

  • VG

^^ It might be happening due to other 3rd party installed software. Also check following:

  • Hello Vishal.

I want to buy Windows 10 Pro.

Is there any chance of getting USB version of Windows 10 pro in India?

Also are there any chances of purchasing the OS for any discount...from microsoft website.

  • VG

^^ You can purchase it from Microsoft Store:

You'll get the download file which you can then put on USB drive. If you have a promo code, you can use it to get discounts at the time of purchase.

  • I am trying to update Windows 10 Build 10240 to Build 10565 using the ISO from USB. If I reboot and try, I go through the upgrade process from within the Windows 10 install and I am prompted to restart normally and try the upgrade from within Windows 10. When I run the setup.exe as admin, I get "Setup has failed to initialize the working directory" error. Any suggestions..? Thank you...

  • Hopefully you can answer a question for me.
Is there not a simple way to exit the insider program and end up with the latest RTM build? From what I've seen, if you do exit, the build you download and *upgrade* to will be the same as the RTM build from last July.
    Thank you

  • VG

^^ Did you check following article?

  • 14295 ISO's available

  • "The system requirements for Windows 10 is same as Windows 8/8.1 system requirements. If your computer can run Windows 8/8.1, it'll also be able to run Windows 10."
Actually, the minimum RAM requirements for Windows 10 32-bit will soon be going from 1GB to 2GB.

  • Hi I run Windows 10 build 1511 OS build 10586.318 but having a problem with the windows start menu that do not want to open. I also have messages in the New notification and also can't open that to clean it. I understand that this was some issue on earlier builds, but as far as I can see this is about the latest build before the Beta builds. if I ask for a update, my computer say that there is no updates and that I have the latest build. What can I do to fix this problem

    Thanks in advance

  • VG

^^ Seems a corrupted system file problem to me. You can try Reset this PC feature but it'll remove installed programs and files from C: drive.

You can also try sfc /scannow command in Command Prompt to restore all default system files.

  • sfc /scannow did repair some files but not this problem, will it help to repair the windows by re-install windows 10? It should keep all settings? I have it on a DVD to install.

  • VG

^^ Yes. Choose the upgrade option and it should keep the files.

  • Thanks it worked! I just re-run the windows 10 image file an it fix the whole problem.

  • Where are your activation keys from? Are we really allowed to use them? I don't want to anger the Microsoft gods (though I undoubtedly already have by doing a clean ISO install on my Vista system).

  • I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft, but saw no mention of Pro. If I need to reinstall Win 10 from the ISO, is Pro included?

  • Sorry, I tough that is the link for 969 build. I was sent from

  • Which one to download for home? I am confused.

  • How do I fix this in windows 10 Pro 64 bit:
    sfc /scannow result-

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
    supported in offline servicing scenarios

  • Registration of Insider preview 15025 (offline iso download) fails using any of the 3 product keys listed in the above article. Any suggestions?

Running on Oracle VirtualBox inside Windows Server 2012 r2

  • Windows 10 Insider Preview build 15063 offline ISO is still not available. The last build available to download is Build 15058.

  • VG

^^ They removed it. It was available earlier.

  • VG

Now the ISO for build 15063 are again available for download.

  • Yup, downloeaded it this evening! Thanks, man!

  • I tried to use a Windows 7 and 8 product key - but none of them worked. Finally I used an Windows 10 product key - worked immediately.

  • Help

  • If you Copy and Paste in to you Download Manager link IDM.
You may wait a little till the server authorize the PHP link to download the ISO.
