Vista Black Theme for Windows Vista




I’m glad to announce my new theme “Vista Black” for Windows Vista.

ABOUT:

I have created this theme for “Windows Vista Basic” users who can’t use “Aero” in their systems and are forced to use the Vista Basic theme. I have tried to make it similar to Vista Aero theme.

HOW TO USE:

1. Windows Vista without SP1 users can download and install VistaGlazz to use 3rd party themes:

Installer || Standalone || Website

If you have installed SP1, then don’t use VistaGlazz as its not compatible with SP1. I’ll advise you to use Tuneup Utilities and apply the theme using Tuneup Styler:

2. Extract the content of RAR file to:

%windir%\Resources\Themes\

3. Now right-click on Desktop and select “Personalize” and then click on “Theme“. Now select “Vista Black by Vishal Gupta” from the drop-down box and then Apply it.

NOTE FOR VISTA AERO USERS:

It’ll apply the Aero theme by default. If you want to use the “basic” version which I made specially, then change it from:

[Windows Color and Appearance -> Open classic appearance properties for more color options]

And select the Basic version from the list and then apply.

    WOW, I love this!

    I just need help installing it.

    I downloaded it, and installed it, but the black won’t show. I got to %windir%\Resources\Themes\, but I can’t find the .rar file that came with the theme to put it there.

    PLEASE help, because I really want this for my new computer.

    The .RAR file will be downloaded to your default folder where other files are downloaded. Look where it has been downloaded and then extract it in “%windir%\Resources\Themes” folder.

    hi i downloaded vista glazz and alao patched the files , but i still not able to apply new themes in windows vista. i tried to copy the winstyle in %windir%\resources\themes. but i i am not ale to extract files direct to %windir%\resources. so plz kindly advice me i really need all these themes to be applied on my new pc ..

    The problem is not the wallpaper. I’m talking about the windows borders which always stay blue unless I turn to Vista Aero, choose black and turn off transparency. All I want is to use Vista Basic with «everything black», just like the picture in the top of this page. If it helps I can send you a «print secreen» of my desktop ;-)

    ^^ It means the theme is not installed properly. Thats why you are not getting black borders. Make sure you have run VistaGlazz and have clicked on first computer icon to patch your system.

    I got the same problem as Rakesh above. I patched the files with VistaGlazz. And I took ownership of the Resources folder, but I still can’t extract the .rar file to it. I gave myself full security options on the folder still I get messages like “Access is denied” and “The system cannot find the path specified.” Help plz?

    It seems you don’t have permissions to extract the file. Login as Administrator and then try to extract the file or use following trick to take ownership of the folder:

    ^^ Nope. Vista themes can’t be applied in XP but I have already made its another version for Windows XP which you can find in “XP Themes” section.

    if you read the comments preceding yours you will see the answer just make sure that if you have SP1 that you use tuneup utilities to install this theme and if you do not the use vistaglazz to patch your vista beware for SP! will disable this theme if you had it installed before installing SP1. Now to you question about the details pane. here is the link where Vishal explains this:
