[Tip] Uninstall Existing Antivirus Programs Using ESET AV Remover

It’s always advised to not install more than one security program such as antivirus software in any computer to prevent conflicts between antivirus programs functionality as installing more than one antivirus program can sometimes cause serious problems in computers.

That’s why whenever we decide to switch to a new antivirus program, we must first uninstall the existing antivirus software from our computer. Most of the 3rd party software come with uninstallation support and we can remove the existing antivirus software using its uninstaller which can be found either in Start Menu/Start Screen or in “Control Panel -> Programs and Features” (add/remove programs) page.

But sometimes the built-in uninstallation option doesn’t work properly and the antivirus program doesn’t get completely removed from the system. Also sometimes a few antivirus programs don’t come with any built-in uninstaller so we can’t remove them from our system at all.

In such cases when we can’t get rid of the existing antivirus program, we also can’t install the new antivirus software in our computer system.

To overcome this problem, long time back we posted a list of official uninstallers or removal tools for all popular antivirus software which can be used to remove existing antivirus programs from computers completely:

We have also shared a 3rd party tool called AppRemover which can also help you in removing unwanted antivirus software from your system:

  1. I‘ve been recently removing ESET antivirus itself whilst being in safe mode since after update it was stuck and wouldn‘t load. I was using ESET uninstaller in command line but after I restarted my PC and tried to re-install it things cleared out that even in safe mode antivirus program wasn‘t uninstalled! After launching installer downloaded from their website it was telling me something about user “SYSTEM” trying to install their software earlier so it must continue installation in order to use ESET product. Then in Google I found a special way to launch installer as user “SYSTEM” and everything went fine from then but since then I‘m not fully satisfied with this product as it seemed to be not completely stable.
