[Tip] How to Deactivate/Remove “Retail Demo Mode” in Windows 10

Long time back we told about hidden secret “Retail Demo Mode” present in Windows 10 operating system. This mode has been specifically developed for retail shop owners to showcase Windows 10 features and to allow visitors to test drive Windows 10 OS. This mode comes with many usage restrictions. A built-in “RetailAdmin” account can be used to gain full administrator access to the PC. The password of RetailAdmin account is trs10.

Retail Demo mode can be activated or turned on by clicking 5 times on Windows heading present in Settings -> Update & security -> Activation page as mentioned in following article:

  1. this does not work. The “remove RDX” option no longer exists. There is the option about automatic shutdown and “next” which takes you into a page which, in true Microsoft style, is not very clear what the effects are and relates to how long admin access will last. There does not appear to be an option to remove RDX and the 3GB of garbage associated with it 😐

  2. Don’t any app install in my phone
In show this SOMETHING IS WRONG THERE IS A PROBLEM IN YOUR MICROSOFT ACCOUNT TO FIX THIS GO LIVE.COM IN A BROWSER THIS PROBLEM IN MY PHONE

  3. Hello,
I tried this process and the pc acted like it was going to restart and it never did. I then tried to restart and see if it would be in out of the box mode and it wasn’t. I tried the process again and whenever I click the windows word 5 times it goes to the admin lock and doesn’t give me and option to enter a password. The only option is to press no. What should I do next?

  4. Thank you so much for the post. It was so fast and simple. It worked great!!! I struggled for a few days trying to get the demo off until I found this awesome info. Thanks again

  5. Worked perfectly for me except on the newer model it does not have a Microsoft logo in the right corner it’s the top middle left. It reset and corona popped up to start windows

  6. Older comments deleted? well, the older and probably immediate comments were that it just relaunches demo mode after a couple restarts. People who said it works probably just hadn’t restarted a couple times yet. It will also relaunch when you are trying to install certain programs. It deletes all your files every time too after you are tricked that it’s gone and you do the whole thing again. Furthermore it’s a royal pain having to try to beat the auto clicks and cursor with your own just to do this. It takes many tries just to be fast enough to shut down the PC by clciking the button.
